Product description

Calgel is a combination preparation with a topical effect in the form of a gel for application to the gums. It contains two active substances: lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic, and cetylpyridinium chloride with low disinfecting properties. The use of Calgel gel is indicated in inflammatory conditions during teething in infants from 3 months of age and older children. It works quickly to reduce local teething pain and soothe irritation in the gums.

Indications

Inflammation and pain caused by teething in infants from 3 months of age.

Composition

1 g of gel contains:

active substances: lidocaine hydrochloride 3.3 mg and 1 mg cetylpyridinium chloride 1 mg,

other ingredients: sorbitol 70% solution, xylitol, ethanol 96%, glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose 5000, macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, lauryl macrogoluether 9, macrogol 300, sodium saccharin, levomenthol, herbal flavor, caramel (E150), citric acid monohydrate, sodium citrate Purified Water.

Action

Local anesthetic, soothing, disinfecting.

Dosage

Infants from 3 months of age: squeeze a small amount of gel (7.5 mm long strip) onto the tip of a clean finger and gently rub it into the gums at the site of tooth eruption.

If necessary, the treatment can be repeated, but not more often than every 2 hours and up to 6 times a day.

Contraindications

Allergy to lidocaine hydrochloride, cetylpyridinium chloride or any of the other ingredients of the preparation, including chamomile.

Do not use in infants under 3 months of age.

Storage

Store below 25 ° C out of the reach and sight of children.

Shelf life after first opening the tube: 1 month.

Side effects

Calgel, like any other medicine, can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Chamomile (a negligible component of the herbal flavor) may cause an allergic reaction; Chamomile hypersensitivity is usually manifested by difficulty breathing or anaphylactic reactions after drinking herbal infusions containing chamomile (herbal tea for asthma) or by skin allergic reactions to preparations containing chamomile.

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 patients):

  • allergy (including dermatitis) and injection site reactions (including erythema).

Interactions

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the preparations you are taking or have recently taken, and about any preparations you plan to use.

There are no known interactions of Calgel with other medications.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not use more than the recommended dose.

In the event of any undesirable effects or overdose, discontinue the preparation immediately and seek medical advice.

Consult a physician before taking the preparation if the patient has an intolerance to some sugars.

The preparation contains sorbitol: in the case of previously diagnosed intolerance to some sugars, consult a doctor before using the gel.

The preparation contains small amounts of ethanol (alcohol), less than 100 mg per dose.

This medicine contains less than 1 mmol (39 mg) sodium per dose and is essentially 'sodium-free'.
