Product description
Diclofenac-Teva Forte 2% is a topical agent for joint and muscle pain.
Treatment of pain, inflammation and swelling in:
- soft tissue injuries: injuries to tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints (for example, due to dislocation, sprain, impingement) and back pain (sports injuries);
- localized forms of rheumatism of soft tissues: tendinitis (including "tennis elbow"), bursitis, shoulder syndrome and periarthropathy.
- Symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis of small and medium-sized superficial joints, such as finger joints or knee joints.
Storage
active substance: diclofenac diethylamine;
1 g of gel contains diclofenac diethylamine 23.2 mg, which is equivalent to diclofenac sodium 20 mg;
auxiliary substances: isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol (E 1520), cocoyl caprylocaprate, mineral oil, carbomer 974R, polyethylene glycol cetostearyl ether 22, diethylamine, aroma (camphor, eucalyptol, ambroxide, citronellol, benzyl alcohol, citral, coumarin, eugenol, farnesol, geraniol , limonene, linalool), oleic acid (E 570), butylhydroxytoluene (E 321), purified water.
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other components of the preparation.
History of attacks of bronchial asthma, bronchospasm, angioedema, urticaria, or acute rhinitis caused by taking acetylsalicylic acid or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (NSAIDs).
Do not use on mucous membranes, open wounds, inflammatory and infectious skin diseases, such as eczema.
Children and adolescents under 14 years of age.
The last trimester of pregnancy.
Adverse reactions
Infections and parasitic diseases. Very rare: pustular rashes.
From the side of the immune system. Very rarely: hypersensitivity reactions (including urticaria), angioedema.
From the side of the respiratory system. Very rare: bronchial asthma.
From the gastrointestinal tract. Very rarely: complaints from the gastrointestinal tract.
From the skin and connective tissues. Often: dermatitis (especially contact dermatitis), rash, erythema, eczema, itching. Sometimes: peeling, dehydration of the skin, edema. Rarely: bullous dermatitis. Very rare: photosensitivity. Frequency unknown: burning sensation at the application site, dry skin.
When applying the gel to large areas of the skin and for a long time, the possibility of systemic adverse reactions to diclofenac (for example, from the kidneys, liver or gastrointestinal tract, systemic hypersensitivity reactions) is not excluded.
Application method
The preparation is intended for external use only.
For adults and children over 14 years of age, the medicine is applied 2 times a day (morning and evening), lightly rubbing into the skin at the location of the pain, the analgesic effect lasts up to 12 hours.
The amount of the preparation used depends on the size of the affected area (so, 2-4 g of gel, the size of a cherry or walnut, is enough to apply to an area of 400-800 cm2), the maximum daily dose of the preparation is 8 g (160 mg diclofenac sodium respectively).
After applying the product, it is necessary to wash hands, except for those cases when this area is to be treated.
Allow the gel to dry for a few minutes before applying the bandage.
The duration of therapy depends on the indication and effectiveness of treatment. The preparation should not be used for more than 14 consecutive days for injuries or rheumatism of soft tissues and for more than 21 days for joint pain of arthritic origin, unless otherwise recommended by a doctor.
If after 7 days of treatment the patient's condition has not improved or worsened, it is necessary to consult a doctor.
Features of application
Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding
The preparation Diclofenac-Teva Forte 2% is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy.
Like other NSAIDs, diclofenac passes into breast milk in small amounts. When using therapeutic doses of diclofenac, no negative consequences for the baby are expected. No studies have been conducted on women who are breast-feeding, so this medicine should be used only on the advice of a doctor. Therefore, if there are good reasons for using the gel during breastfeeding, it should not be applied to the mammary glands or large areas of the skin and used for a long time.
Children
The preparation Diclofenac-Teva Forte 2% is contraindicated for use in children under 14 years of age.
The ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving vehicles or other mechanisms
Local use of diclofenac does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and other mechanisms.
Overdose
Overdose is unlikely due to the low absorption of diclofenac into the systemic bloodstream when applied topically. If more gel is applied than recommended, the residue should be washed off with water.
In case of accidental ingestion of the preparation, side effects characteristic of systemic adverse reactions of diclofenac may be observed (the content of one tube of the preparation Diclofenac-Teva Forte 2% 100 g is equivalent to 2000 mg of diclofenac sodium).
In this case, in the event of the development of significant systemic adverse reactions, therapeutic measures are used to treat NSAIDs poisoning. After accidentally swallowing the medicine, the stomach should be washed immediately and an adsorbent should be taken. There is no specific antidote.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions
Since the systemic absorption of diclofenac when applied topically is very low, the occurrence of interactions is unlikely. The combined use of Diclofenac-Teva Forte 2% with systemic NSAIDs and steroids can increase the frequency of side effects.
Storage conditions
The medicinal product does not require special storage conditions. Store in original packaging to protect from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
