Pharmacological properties

Doctor mom® cough syrup is a combined preparation made from medicinal plants.

The preparation has a bronchodilator, mucolytic, expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect.

The effectiveness of the preparation is due to the pharmacological properties of its components:

Holy Basil extract (Оcimum sanctum) - expectorant, antipyretic, diaphoretic and antiseptic effect;
extract of licorice naked (Glycyrrhiza glabra) - analgesic, sedative, cooling, expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect;
extract of turmeric longa (Curcuma longa) - anti-inflammatory, antibacterial action;
extract of medicinal ginger (Zingiber officinale) - anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect;
extract of justice adatoda (Adhatoda vasika) - mucolytic, expectorant, antispasmodic effect;
Indian nightshade extract (Solanum indicum) - antipyretic, expectorant effect;
extract of elecampane racemosis (Inula racemosa) - antispasmodic, antiseptic, expectorant effect;
cubeba pepper extract (Piper cubeba) - anti-inflammatory, expectorant effect;
extract of terminalia belerica (Terminalia belerica) - decongestant, expectorant effect;
extract of aloe barbadensis (Aloe barbadensis) - anti-inflammatory, regenerating effect;
menthol - antispasmodic and antiseptic action.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment for acute and chronic respiratory diseases, accompanied by dry cough and cough with thick, difficult to separate sputum:

acute and chronic diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract (pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis);

professional "lecturer" laryngitis.

Application

Shake well before use!

The solution is intended for oral administration.

Children: at the age of 3-5 years - 2.5 ml 3 times a day, after meals.

At the age of 6-14 years - 2.5-5 ml 3 times a day, after meals.

Adults and children over the age of 14: 5-10 ml 3 times a day, after meals.

The duration of the course of treatment is 7-10 days.

If within 3-5 days the condition has not improved or even worsened, you should consult a doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components that make up the preparation; ah; liver and kidney disease; obstruction of the bile duct; acute cholangitis; calculi in the gallbladder; diarrhea; hemorrhoids; inflammatory diseases of the colon (eg Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis); violation of intestinal patency, including intestinal obstruction, intestinal atony, intestinal stenosis, appendicitis, abdominal pain of unknown origin, severe dehydration, imbalance in water and electrolyte balance; severe obesity; spasmophilia; ba; croup; diabetes.

Side effects

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: rash, urticaria, itching, angioedema, dermatitis.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: increased blood pressure, pain in the region of the heart.

From the digestive tract: dyspeptic symptoms, nausea, diarrhea, heartburn, irritation of the oral mucosa, belching, abdominal pain, stomach cramps, flatulence.

Metabolic disorders: violation of water and electrolyte balance (including the appearance of edema).

From the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions.

Others: dizziness, flushing of the skin, dry mouth.

The preparation contains sodium methylparaben and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate, which can cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).

Special instructions

The medicinal product contains sucrose (7.5 g per 10 ml of syrup). this should be taken into account in patients on a low-calorie diet. patients with diabetes mellitus should not use the preparation. it is also not recommended to take the preparation doctor mom® syrup for patients with hereditary fructose intolerance, glucose / galactose malabsorption syndrome and sucrase / isomaltase deficiency.

Aloe should not be taken by patients with coprostasis, patients with gastrointestinal complaints such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, including undiagnosed ones, as these symptoms may be signs of potential or existing intestinal obstruction. Electrolyte disturbances are possible in patients with kidney disease.

Patients taking cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmic preparations, preparations that cause prolongation of the Q – T interval, diuretics, adrenocorticosteroids, or licorice root should consult a doctor.

Patients with gastroesophageal reflux (heartburn) should avoid using the preparation, as heartburn may increase.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. Since there is no experience of using the preparation Doctor Mom® syrup in pregnant and lactating women, and given that the preparation contains licorice naked, it should not be prescribed to this group of patients.

Children. Not recommended for use in children under 3 years of age.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. There is no data on the effect of the preparation Doctor Mom® syrup on driving or working with potentially dangerous mechanisms, therefore, when taking the preparation, you should refrain from the above activities.

Interactions

Doctor mom® syrup should not be used in conjunction with other antitussive preparations, as the process of sputum dilution may be inhibited.

Simultaneously with Doctor Mom® syrup, antimicrobial agents can be used if indicated.

Syrup Doctor Mom® is used with caution simultaneously with cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmic preparations that affect the heart rate, due to the risk of hypokalemia and imbalance in water and electrolyte balance, diuretics, corticosteroids, laxatives. Use with caution with acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin and other antithrombotic preparations due to the possibility of bleeding. The preparation can enhance the absorption of sulfoguanidine.

Overdose

Overdose cases are unknown.

Prolonged use of preparations containing licorice in excessive doses can lead to the formation of edema, the development of hypokalemia, and an increase in blood pressure. In some cases, hypokalemic myopathy and myoglobinuria are possible. Pain in the region of the heart may occur. Therapy is symptomatic.

Storage conditions
