Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. When used externally, Doctor Mom® has an irritating, distracting, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect. Pharmacological properties are due to the components that make up it:

• menthol - dilates blood vessels, causes a feeling of cold, accompanied by an analgesic effect;
• camphor - has an irritating and analgesic effect;
• thymol - an antiseptic with antibacterial and antifungal effects;
• turpentine and eucalyptus oils - irritating when applied topically;
• nutmeg oil - inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins.

Pharmacokinetics. The preparation has no systemic effect.

Indications

As part of the complex therapy of acute respiratory diseases, accompanied by a runny nose, a feeling of nasal congestion, and a cough; symptomatic therapy of muscle pain, back pain, headache.

Application

For adults and children over the age of 3 years, Doctor Mom® ointment is prescribed up to 3 times a day. with a runny nose or nasal congestion, a small amount of ointment is gently applied to the skin of the wings of the nose without rubbing; for a cough associated with a cold, the ointment is applied in a thin layer to the skin of the chest (in the sternum) and rubbed lightly; for headaches, the ointment is applied to the skin of the temporal region; for pain in the muscles, back, the ointment is applied to the area that hurts, lightly rubbed in and cover this area with a warm bandage.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity / allergic reactions to active ingredients or excipients of the preparation. hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation; ba, whooping cough, false croup, tendency to seizures, children under 3 years of age, irritation or violation of the integrity of the skin, including burns, eczema, dermatitis, pustular skin diseases.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible, including skin rash, hives, itching, irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, redness, dermatitis, including contact dermatitis, especially in children.

From the immune system: hypersensitivity (allergic reactions), anaphylactic shock.

From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, agitation, convulsions caused by camphor are possible.

From the respiratory system: when using the preparation, it is possible to increase the likelihood and frequency of bronchospasm, especially in children.

On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissues: allergic dermatitis.

If such reactions occur, treatment should be stopped immediately.

Special instructions

Use only as an external agent! do not rub into the nostrils, avoid getting the preparation in the eyes, on the mucous membrane of the nose and oral cavity (in case of contact, rinse with plenty of water). do not apply to damaged skin! if symptoms persist, worsen, or new symptoms appear, discontinue use of the preparation and consult a doctor.

Application during pregnancy or lactation. There is no experience of using the preparation in women during pregnancy and lactation, therefore it is not recommended to use the preparation in this category of patients.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms. In the event of adverse reactions from the nervous system (dizziness, agitation, convulsions), you should refrain from driving or working with other mechanisms.

Children. The efficacy and safety of using the preparation in children under 3 years of age has not been sufficiently studied. For children over the age of 3 years, use with caution, on the recommendation and under the supervision of a physician.

Interactions

Interaction with other preparations with local application of the preparation is minimal. it is not recommended to use it simultaneously with other ointments and creams.

Overdose

There may be an increase in the severity of side reactions, a feeling of intense heat and burning. in case of accidental ingestion, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, symptoms of CNS depression, dizziness, ataxia, convulsions, hot flashes, drowsiness, difficulty breathing are possible.

Treatment: wash off the applied preparation with soap and water, gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C, out of the reach of children. after use, close the jar tightly with a lid.
