Fluanxol Depot injection solution is used for the supportive treatment of schizophrenia and other psychoses, especially with symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions and thought disorders, complicated by apathy, anergy, depression and solitude.

The active substance is flupentixol (1 ml of injection contains 20 mg of cis(Z)-flupentixol decanoate).

The excipient is medium chain triglycerides.

hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation;

circulatory collapse, depression of the central nervous system of any origin (for example, due to the action of alcohol, barbiturate or opioid intoxication), coma;

not recommended for use in easily excitable patients and in patients in a state of nervous excitement.

Doses of the preparation and the interval between injections are determined individually to achieve maximum suppression of psychotic symptoms with minimal side effects.

With maintenance treatment, the dosage range is usually 20-40 mg (1-2 ml) every 2-4 weeks. Some patients require higher doses or shorter intervals between injections. Flupentixol decanoate is suitable for the treatment of patients requiring sedation.

When switching from treatment with oral flupentixol to maintenance treatment with flupentixol decanoate, the following scheme should be followed:

oral daily dose (mg) x 4 = flupentixol decanoate dose (mg) every two weeks;

oral daily dose (mg) x 8 = flupentixol decanoate dose (mg) every four weeks. Patients should continue to take oral flupentixol during the first week after the first injection, but at a reduced dose.

When switching to treatment with flupenthixol decanoate from other deposited preparations, one should be guided by the ratio: 40 mg of flupentixol decanoate corresponds to 25 mg of fluphenazine decanoate, 200 mg of zuclopenthixol decanoate or 50 mg of haloperidol decanoate.

Subsequent doses and intervals between injections should be set according to the patient's response.

Route of administration: flupentixol decanoate is administered as an injection into the upper quadrant of the buttock. Injections larger than 2 ml should be divided into two injection sites. Local tolerance is good.

Since the safety of the use of this preparation during pregnancy has not been established, flupenthixol decanoate should not be used during pregnancy, especially in the first and last trimesters, unless the expected benefit to the patient outweighs the theoretical risk to the fetus.

Flupentixol is excreted in breast milk. If the use of the preparation "Fluanxol Depot" is recognized as essential, nursing mothers should be advised to stop breastfeeding.

Cases of hyperprolactinemia, galactorrhea, amenorrhea, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction and lack of ejaculation have been reported. Such cases may adversely affect women's and/or men's sexual function and fertility.

Use is not recommended due to lack of clinical experience.

"Fluanxol Depot" is a non-sedative agent in the range of low and medium dosages (up to 100 mg / two weeks). However, patients who are prescribed psychotropic preparations, or after drinking alcohol, may experience some decrease in general attention and concentration and should be warned about the possibility of the preparation affecting the ability to drive vehicles and work with mechanisms. Patients should not drive if they have blurred vision.

Due to the dosage form, cases of overdose are unlikely.

Symptoms: drowsiness, coma, extrapyramidal disorders, convulsions, arterial hypotension, shock, hypo- or hyperthermia.

With simultaneous overdose, along with preparations that can affect cardiac activity, there have been cases of ECG changes, QT prolongation, torsades de pointes, cardiac arrest and ventricular arrhythmias.

Treatment is symptomatic and supportive. Measures should be taken to maintain the activity of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.

During therapy with flupentixol or in the early stages after its withdrawal, cases of suicidal thoughts and suicidal behavior have been reported.

Flupentixol decanoate must not be mixed with deposited forms containing sesame oil, since their mixture changes the pharmacokinetic properties of these agents.

Store ampoules in the original carton to protect from light. The preparation does not require special storage conditions.
