Forlax is an osmotic laxative. Indications for use - symptomatic treatment of constipation in children aged 6 months to 8 years.

Compound

1 sachet contains macrogol 4000 4 g;

auxiliary substances: orange-grapefruit flavor (essential oils of orange and grapefruit, concentrated orange juice, citral, acetic acid aldehyde, linalol, ethyl butyrate, alpha-terpineol, octanal, beta and gamma-hexenol, maltodextrin (E4, acacia resin) sorbitol (E 420), butylhydroxyanisole (E 320) and sulfur dioxide (E 220)); sodium saccharin.

Contraindications

• severe inflammatory bowel disease (eg ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease) or toxic megacolon;
• perforation or risk of gastrointestinal perforation;
• ileus or suspicion of intestinal obstruction, symptomatic stenosis;
• pain syndromes in the abdomen of undetermined origin;
• hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients of the preparation.

Mode of application

For oral administration.

Doses for children:

from 6 months to 1 year 1 sachet (4 g) per day;

from 1 to 4 years: 1-2 sachets (4-8 g) per day;

from 4 to 8 years old: 2-4 sachets (8-16 g) per day.

The daily dose is determined according to the expected clinical effect.

The first effect from the use of the preparation Forlax® occurs within 24-48 hours after administration.

Application features

Before starting treatment, the doctor needs to make sure that there are no organic disorders, especially in patients under 2 years of age. Forlax® (4 g) is prescribed for the temporary treatment of constipation as an adjuvant, subject to the appropriate sanitary and hygienic recommendations and diet; the maximum duration of the course of treatment is 3 months. If symptoms persist despite dietary advice, the root cause must be identified and addressed.

Warning

Data on the effectiveness of the use of children under 2 years of age were obtained in a limited number of patients.

Treatment of constipation with any preparation is only an auxiliary therapy, it involves adherence to a healthy lifestyle and food culture:

• consuming more fluids and dietary fiber;
• maintaining proper physical activity and restoring bowel function.

Before starting treatment, you must make sure that there are no organic disorders.

After a 3-month course of treatment, it is advisable to conduct a complete clinical examination for constipation.

Pregnant

Animal studies do not indicate direct or indirect toxic effects on reproductive function.

Data on the use of FORLAX® in pregnant women are limited (less than 300 cases of pregnancy).

Not a single action is expected during pregnancy, since the systemic effect of Forlax® is insignificant. Forlax® can be used during pregnancy.

Children

The duration of treatment for children should not exceed 3 months due to the lack of data from clinical studies on the use of this preparation for more than 3 months. Recovery of bowel motility following treatment should be supported by adherence to hygiene and dietary guidelines.

Overdose

Diarrhea, abdominal pain and vomiting have been reported. Diarrhea caused by taking an overdose of this preparation will disappear if you temporarily stop treatment or reduce the dose.

Excessive fluid loss due to diarrhea or vomiting may require correcting electrolyte imbalances.

Side effects
