Product description

Powder for inhalation Formoterol Easyhaler is shown:
  • For the treatment of bronchial asthma in patients who use inhaled corticosteroids or require long-acting β2-agonist treatment.
  • To reduce symptoms of airway obstruction in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who require long-acting β2-agonist treatment.

Compound

Active substance: formoterol;
1 dose leaving the mouthpiece contains 12 μg of formoterol fumarate dihydrate;
Excipient: lactose monohydrate.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to formoterol fumarate or lactose monohydrate (contains a small amount of milk proteins). Hypersensitivity to other β2-adrenergic stimulants.
Tachyarrhythmia, third degree atrioventricular block, idiopathic subvalvular aortic stenosis, hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, thyrotoxicosis.
Patients with suspected or known prolongation of the QT interval (QTc> 0.44 sec).

Mode of application

Method of application - inhalation.
Adults (including elderly patients) and children from 12 years of age.
Bronchial asthma. Regular maintenance therapy: 1 inhalation (12 mcg) 2 times a day. In the case of severe diseases, this dosage regimen can be increased to 2 inhalations (24 μg) 2 times a day.
The maximum daily dose is 4 inhalations (48 mg) per day.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Regular maintenance therapy: 1 inhalation (12 mcg) 2 times a day.
The maximum daily dose is 2 inhalations (1 inhalation 2 times a day).

Treatment with formoterol should only be considered if it is necessary to control bronchial asthma, and if there is no other safe alternative, given that the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus.
Children
Children under the age of 6 years should not be prescribed Formoterol Easyhaler, since the experience of using the preparation  in this group of patients is insufficient.
Drivers
In case of dizziness, tremors, convulsions during treatment, you should not drive vehicles or work with complex mechanisms.

Overdose

Symptoms Little clinical experience has been accumulated in the treatment of overdose. Overdose is most likely accompanied by symptoms that are usually observed with an overdose of β2-agonists: tremor, headache, palpitations. In some cases, symptoms such as tachycardia, hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, prolongation of the QTc interval, arrhythmia, nausea and vomiting have been reported.
Treatment. Supportive and symptomatic treatment is indicated. Serious cases require hospitalization.
The advisability of using cardioselective beta-blockers can be considered, but very carefully, since the use of beta-adrenolytics can provoke bronchospasm. Serum potassium levels should be monitored.

Side effects

The most common reported side effects of β2-agonist treatment, such as tremors and palpitations, are predominantly mild and resolve within a few days of treatment.

Interaction

Simultaneous use with macrolides requires caution, since their effect on the cardiovascular system may increase.
Concomitant use of other sympathomimetic preparations, such as other <> β2-agonists or ephedrine, can enhance both the desirable and undesirable effects of Formoterol Easyhaler. Therefore, dose titration may be necessary.

Storage conditions

Store in original packaging before first use.
After opening the package, store at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C in a place protected from moisture.
Shelf life is 2 years.
