Pharmacological properties

The active substance of the preparation forteza is benzydamine - npvp with analgesic and anti-exudative properties. in addition, when applied topically, benzydamine acts as a disinfectant. its effectiveness when applied topically is due to its ability to penetrate the epithelial layer and reach effective concentrations in inflamed tissues.

When applied topically in the indicated concentration, benzydamine is absorbed by the mucous membrane, but its concentration in the blood plasma is so low that it cannot have any pharmacological effect.

Benzydamine is excreted from the body mainly in the urine in the form of inactive metabolites or conjugation products.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment for irritating and inflammatory conditions of the oropharynx; pain caused by gingivitis, stomatitis, pharyngitis; in dentistry after tooth extraction and for prophylactic purposes.

Application

Forteza, rinse solution. used only for rinsing the mouth. do not exceed the recommended dose.

For adults and children over the age of 12, rinse the mouth for 20-30 seconds using one measuring cap (15 ml) of rinse solution. Then spit out the liquid without swallowing it. The rinse dose (15 ml) can be diluted with the same amount of water if necessary.

The procedure is repeated 2-3 times at intervals of 3-4 hours, unless the doctor recommended a different regimen. If necessary, the number of rinses can be increased to 5.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually. It is recommended not to use the preparation for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor.

Forteza, oral spray. Install the nebulizer before use. When you press the pump, an aerosol is formed containing 1 spray dose - 0.18 ml.

Dosage: adults: 4–8 sprays, 2–6 times a day. Children 6–12 years old: 4 sprays, 2–6 times a day. Children 4-6 years: 1 spray for every 4 kg of body weight, up to a maximum dose equivalent to 4 sprays 2-6 times a day.

Do not exceed recommended dosages.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the preparation.

Side effects

Within each frequency group, adverse effects are listed in order of decreasing severity.

Adverse reactions are classified by frequency of occurrence: very often (≥1 / 10); often (from? 1/100 to 1/10); infrequently (from ≥1 / 1000 to 1/100); rarely (from ≥1 / 10000 to 1/1000); very rare (1/10000); the frequency is unknown (cannot be estimated from the available data).

From the digestive tract: rarely - a burning sensation in the mouth, dry mouth; frequency unknown - oral hypesthesia, nausea, vomiting, swelling and discoloration of the tongue, change in taste.

From the immune system: rarely - hypersensitivity reaction; frequency unknown - anaphylactic reactions.

From the respiratory system, chest and mediastinum: very rarely - laryngospasm; frequency unknown - bronchospasm.

On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: infrequently - photosensitivity; very rarely - angioedema; frequency unknown - rash, pruritus, urticaria.

From the side of the nervous system: the frequency is unknown - dizziness, headache.

The preparation contains parahydroxybenzoates (methylparaben), which can cause delayed-acting allergic reactions.

Special instructions

If the symptoms of the disease have not diminished within 3 days, the doctor determines the appropriateness of further treatment.

In some patients, ulcers of the mucous membranes of the cheeks and pharynx were noted. In the absence of improvement in these patients, you should see a doctor (dentist).

Benzydamine is not recommended for patients with hypersensitivity to salicylic acid or other NSAIDs.

The use of the preparation can cause bronchospasm in patients with a history of asthma or asthma. Such patients must be warned about this.

Long-term treatment with benzydamine can lead to hypersensitivity phenomena.

Forteza, an oral spray, contains parahydroxybenzoate (methylparaben), which may cause a delayed allergic reaction.

For athletes: The use of medicines containing ethyl alcohol may give a positive anti-doping test result (subject to the limits set by some sports federations).

Avoid contact of the preparation with the eyes.

Forteza, rinse solution, is used for the oral cavity without diluting. Solution should not be swallowed after use, but spit out. If the patient complains of burning or tingling sensation, it is recommended to dilute the preparation.

Application during pregnancy or lactation. Pregnancy period. There have not been sufficient studies, therefore, it is not recommended to use the preparation in this group of patients.

Breastfeeding period. There have been no sufficient studies, therefore, it is not recommended to use the preparation during lactation.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms. Topical application of benzydamine in recommended doses does not alter the ability to drive vehicles or operate other mechanisms.

Children. It is not recommended to use the preparation in the form of a solution in children under 12 years of age due to the possibility of swallowing it while rinsing the mouth. The preparation in the form of a spray is not recommended for children under the age of 4 years.

Overdose

There have been no reports of an overdose of benzydamine when applied topically.

However, it is known that when ingested in a high dose (hundreds of times higher than the possible dose of this dosage form), especially in children, benzydamine can cause agitation, convulsions, tremors, nausea, excessive sweating, ataxia, and vomiting. Such an acute overdose requires immediate gastric lavage, treatment of water-electrolyte disturbances and symptomatic treatment, adequate hydration.
