Description Herbion Ivy syrup 150ml — Made in Slovenia— Free Delivery

Pharmacological properties

Herbion ivy syrup contains a dry extract of ivy leaves, which acts as a mucolytic, antispasmodic and bronchodilator preparation. The main ingredients of dry ivy leaf extract are triterpene saponins, mainly hederacoside c and alpha hederin.
Alpha-hederin inhibits endocytosis of β2-adrenergic receptor blockers, which increases the activity of β2-adrenergic receptor blockers of cells in the mucous membrane of the bronchi and lung epithelium. This leads to a decrease in the intracellular level of calcium in the bronchial mucosa, which causes relaxation of the bronchi. By stimulating β2-adrenergic receptor blockers, type II alveolar epithelial cells produce more surfactant, which leads to a decrease in mucus viscosity. Thus, expectoration and coughing are improved.
There are no data on the pharmacokinetic properties of dry ivy leaf extract.
