Product description

Invirum is a preparation that contains acyclovir.

Dosage

The recommended dose is: 1 tablet (200 mg) five times a day every 4 hours (with a night break) for 5 days.

Composition

ingredients:

-The active substance is acyclovir. One tablet contains 200 mg of aciclovir.

-The other ingredients are: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone K30, sodium carboxymethyl starch (type A), magnesium stearate.

Indications

Invirum is used to treat:

- recurrent cold sores on the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus in adults;

- recurrent external genital herpes caused by the herpes simplex virus in adults.

Contraindications

Do not take Invirum:

-if you are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Side effects

Tell your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital if you experience:

- anaphylactic reaction (potentially life-threatening hypersensitivity reaction with symptoms such as itching, hives, shortness of breath, drop in blood pressure, increased heart rate) - occurs rarely (in 1 to 10 out of 10,000 people);

- angioedema (swelling of the soft tissues of the face, lips, tongue, sometimes with swelling of the larynx which may cause difficulty in breathing) - occurs rarely (affects 1 to 10 users in 10,000).

Possible side effects

Common (affects 1 to 10 out of 100 people):

- headache and dizziness; - nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain; - itching, rash (also occurs after exposure to sunlight);

-tiredness, fever.

Uncommon (affects 1 to 10 in 1,000 people):

-hives, accelerated diffuse hair loss.

Rare (affects 1 to 10 in 10,000 people):

-dyspnoea;

-increase in blood urea and creatinine levels, transient increases in bilirubin and liver enzymes in the blood.

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 people):

-anemia, decrease in the number of white blood cells, thrombocytopenia (decrease in the number of blood platelets);

- agitation, confusion, trembling, ataxia, speech disorder, hallucinations, psychotic symptoms, seizures, sleepiness, encephalopathy (brain damage), coma;

- inflammation of the liver, jaundice (may be manifested by yellowing of the skin and the eyes) - acute kidney failure, pain in the kidneys.

Warnings and Precautions

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Invirum.

Do not take Invirum without consulting your doctor first if:

-you have kidney problems;

-you are taking other medicines that may damage the kidneys;

-you are elderly (over 65 years of age);

-you have immunosuppression (for example, after a bone marrow transplant, HIV infection). Immunocompromised people should consult their doctor for treatment of any infection;

-The patient has developed a particularly severe recurrent cold sores;

-The patient has had particularly severe external genital herpes recurrent;

- the patient notices frequent (more than 6 times a year) and longer (after 5 days of therapy without positive treatment effects) recurrences of herpes, with more severe clinical symptoms (e.g. when after 3-4 days of therapy) new outbreaks of infection arise). This may indicate an immunodeficiency or malabsorption disorder requiring diagnosis and the need for a different dosing regimen.

Use of other medications

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the preparations you are taking or have recently taken, and about any preparations you plan to use.

Especially if you are taking any of the following medicines, please tell your doctor:

-probenecid (used to treat gout);

-cimetidine (used to treat stomach ulcers);

-tacrolimus, cyclosporine or mycophenolate mofetil (used in organ transplant patients);

- theophylline (used to treat asthma and other respiratory problems).

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

The use of the preparation should be avoided during pregnancy, unless the physician decides that the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

The preparation passes into breast milk, therefore care should be taken when using the preparation during breastfeeding. The preparation should only be used after consulting a doctor.

Use of the preparation in children and adolescents

Invirum should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
