Mezym Capsules 10000 are indicated for violation of the exocrine function of the pancreas, accompanied by indigestion.

Structure

Active ingredient: powder from the pancreas (pigs);

Mezym ® Capsules 10000: 1 solid capsule contains powder from the pancreas (pigs) 153.5 (98.3 - 178.6) mg, which has a minimum lipolytic activity of 10,000 EF units (units of the European Pharmacopoeia), a minimum amylolytic activity of 9,000 EF units, the minimum proteolytic activity is 500 U EF;

Mezym ® Capsules 25000: 1 solid capsule contains powder from the pancreas (pigs) 356.1 (245.6 - 446.6) mg, which has a minimum lipolytic activity of 25000 EF, a minimum amylolytic activity of 22500 EF, a minimum proteolytic activity of 1250 U EF;

Excipients: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, hydrated castor oil, colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate, copolymer of methacrylic acid and ethacrylate (1: 1) dispersion 30%, talc, triethyl citrate, gelatin, titanium dioxide (E 171 yellow) E 104), indigo (E 132), iron oxide yellow (E172), iron oxide red (E172), simethicone emulsion 30% dry weight (consisting of simethicone, polyethylene glycol sorbitan tristearate, methylcellulose, polyethylene glycol stearate, dimethylsiloxane with hydroxylated end groups mono- and diglycerides, polyethylene glycol, xanthan gum, triglycerides, benzoic acid (E 210), glycerin, sodium chloride, octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, sorbic acid, sulfuric acid, purified water).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, pig meat (pork allergy) or to any of the excipients of the drug.

Acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis in the acute stage. However, if digestive disorders persist, occasional administration of the drug is advisable in the phase of damping exacerbation when the diet is expanded.

Mode of application

The dosage of the drug is determined individually for each patient, depending on the degree of indigestion and the composition of the food. For individual selection of the dose, there are two types of dosage of the drug - Mezym Capsules 10000 and Mezym Capsules 25000.

The capsules should be swallowed whole with a large amount of liquid, preferably during meals, since the effectiveness of the drug Mezym Capsules may decrease when chewed, and the enzymes contained in the drug, when released in the oral cavity, can damage its mucous membrane.

For ease of use (eg children, elderly patients) hard capsules can be opened and only their contents can be swallowed with a small amount of liquid.

Overdose

The use of very high doses of pancreatic enzymes, in particular in patients with cystic fibrosis, may be accompanied by hyperuricosuria and hyperuricemia.

Side effects

From the digestive tract.

Very rare: abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, vomiting. In patients with cystic fibrosis, when using high doses of powder from the pancreas, constrictions can form in the ileocecal region and in the ascending part of the colon.

From the genitourinary system.

Unknown: in patients with cystic fibrosis, it is possible, especially when using high doses of powder from the pancreas, an increased excretion of uric acid in the urine, therefore, in order to avoid the formation of uric acid calculi in such patients, its content in the urine should be monitored.

From the immune system.

Very rare: immediate allergic reactions (such as skin rash, urticaria, sneezing, lacrimation, bronchospasm, shortness of breath), hypersensitivity reactions localized in the gastrointestinal tract.

Interaction

Folic acid. When using preparations containing powder from the pancreas, the absorption of folic acid may decrease, which may require additional intake of it into the body.

Acarbose, miglitol. The sugar-lowering effect of oral antidiabetic drugs acarbose and miglitol may decrease with the simultaneous use of Mezym Capsules.

Shelf life is 2 years. After opening the can - 6 months.
