Pharmacodynamics. The active ingredient of the preparation Mezym Forte is a powder from the pancreas (pancreatin) of mammals, usually pigs, which, in addition to excretory pancreatic enzymes (lipase, alpha-amylase, trypsin and chymotrypsin), contains other enzymes. pancreatin also contains other related substances that do not have enzymatic activity.

Pharmacokinetics. Suction. Powder from the pancreas is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted in the feces. Most of it is degraded or denatured by digestive juices or bacteria.

Bioavailability. The enteric coating of tablets, resistant to the action of gastric juice, protects acid-sensitive enzymes from inactivation when passing through the stomach. Only after reaching a neutral or slightly alkaline environment in the small intestine, enzymes are released after dissolution of the membrane. Due to the fact that the powder from the pancreas is not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, there is no information on its pharmacokinetics and bioavailability.

The effectiveness of pancreatic powder is determined by the extent and rate of release of enzymes from the dosage form.

Dose escalation should be carried out only under medical supervision and in order to reduce the severity of symptoms (for example, steatorrhea, stomach pain).

Do not exceed the daily dose of enzymes, which is 15,000–20,000 IU of lipase per kilogram of body weight.

Mezym Forte tablets should be swallowed whole, washed down with plenty of liquid, during meals, since the effectiveness of the Mezym Forte preparation may decrease when chewed, the enzymes contained in the preparation, when released in the oral cavity, can damage its mucous membrane.

The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease and is determined by the doctor.

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, pig meat (pork allergy) or any of the excipients of the preparation.

Acute pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis in the exacerbation phase (but episodic use is possible in the fading exacerbation phase with the expansion of the diet in the presence of pancreatic dysfunction). The preparation should not be used in patients with obstructive intestinal obstruction.
