Product description

Acute lower urinary tract infections are an urgent problem, are extremely common and negatively affect the quality of life of patients. Bacteriuria often leads to cystitis, bacterial nonspecific urethritis, which without proper therapy can cause serious complications.

Monural is a broad spectrum antibacterial preparation, manufactured by the Swiss company Zambon Switzerland. The preparation has a predictable highly effective result, which is realized due to the mechanisms of the active component of fosfomycin:

bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect - an overwhelming effect on the growth and reproduction of almost all gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms;
antiadhesive properties do not allow pathogenic strains to interact with cells of the mucous membrane of the urinary tract and bladder.

A feature of fosfomycin, the active substance of Monural, is the absence of transformation in the body and concentration in the urinary organs. The effect develops within two hours and lasts for about 48 hours. High concentrations are created only in urine, with which the preparation is excreted in an unchanged form.

Monural is used internally in the form of a powder dissolved in water - a suspension. A carefully selected dosage allows you to use the preparation only once before bedtime, having previously emptied the bladder.

Also, Monural can be used in complex therapy. It is not advisable to take food before using the prepared solution, as this slows down the rate of development of the therapeutic effect. Resistance to the active ingredient is rare.

Monural is prescribed for acute uncomplicated infections of the lower urinary tract in adults and children over 12 years of age. Clinical studies have not revealed a negative effect on the course of pregnancy and the fetus, therefore it is possible to use the preparation under the supervision of the attending physician.

The preparation Monural has an evidence base for the effectiveness and safety of use. Minor side effects in the form of dyspeptic disorders are rare and usually go away without additional therapy.

Currently, Monural is a modern highly effective uroseptic for empirical treatment of inflammatory diseases of the urinary tract.

Indications

Treatment of acute uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to fosfomycin in men and girls over 12 years of age and adult women. Prophylaxis during diagnostic procedures and surgical interventions in adult patients.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, severe renal failure (creatinine clearance 10 ml / min), age up to 12 years, undergoing hemodialysis.

Method of administration and dosage

Monural is taken orally on an empty stomach, preferably at bedtime, after emptying the bladder. The contents of the package are dissolved in 1/2 glass of water. The dosage regimen is set individually.

Usually a single dose for adults, including elderly patients (up to 75 years of age), in the acute phase of the disease is 3 g (1 packet) once.

In order to prevent infection of the urinary tract during surgery, transurethral diagnostic studies take the contents of one package 3 hours before the intervention and the second package - 24 hours after the intervention.

Overdose

Symptoms: vestibular disturbances, hearing impairment, metallic taste in the mouth and a general decrease in taste perception.

Treatment: symptomatic and supportive therapy. It is recommended to take a lot of fluids to increase urine output.

Composition

Active ingredient in 1 package: fosfomycin trometamol - 5.631 g (equivalent to 3.0 g of fosfomycin)

Excipients: tangerine flavor, orange flavor, saccharin, sucrose.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 30 ° C.
