Description Intestifag 10ml Solution Pack of 4 | Intestinal Bacteriophage Buy Online
Intestifag is a specialized biological preparation featuring a polyvalent complex of sterile filtrates of bacterial phagolysates. This specific format—a pack of four 10ml flacons equipped with dropper caps—is designed for maximum hygiene, portability, and precision dosing. Intestifag utilizes the natural power of bacteriophages to identify and destroy the specific bacteria responsible for acute intestinal infections and dysbiosis. Unlike broad-spectrum antibiotics, this smart medication selectively targets pathogens like Salmonella and Shigella without harming the beneficial gut flora. This makes it an ideal choice for pediatric patients and individuals with sensitive digestive systems who require a targeted approach to gastrointestinal health.
Composition and Active Substance
Each 10ml flacon of Intestifag contains a sterile, purified liquid solution of phagolysates.
Active Substances: Filtrates of phagolysates from the following bacterial strains: Shigella flexneri (serotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6) and Shigella sonnei; Salmonella (typhimurium, enteritidis, heidelberg, infantis, newport, choleraesuis, oranienburg, dublin, anatum); Escherichia coli; Proteus (vulgaris and mirabilis); Staphylococcus aureus; Pseudomonas aeruginosa; and Enterococcus.
Excipients: The solution is stabilized in a physiological saline medium. Depending on the batch, it may contain 8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate as a preservative to maintain the biological activity of the phages.
Pharmacological Action
The therapeutic effect of Intestifag is based on the lytic cycle of bacteriophages. Bacteriophages are naturally occurring viruses that act as the natural enemies of bacteria.
Selective Targeting: The phages in Intestifag possess specific receptors that allow them to attach only to the pathogenic bacterial strains mentioned above.
Viral Replication: Once attached, the phage injects its DNA into the bacterium, turning the pathogen into a host that produces hundreds of new phage particles.
Bacterial Lysis: The bacterial cell wall eventually ruptures (lyses), destroying the pathogen and releasing the new phages to seek out and destroy remaining bacteria. This biological process is highly specific; the phages do not recognize human cells or the friendly bacteria (like Lactobacilli and Bifidobacteria) in the gut. Consequently, Intestifag helps restore the intestinal balance while eliminating the source of infection.
Indications for Use
Intestifag is indicated for both the treatment and prevention of:
Acute Intestinal Infections: Shigellosis (dysentery), salmonellosis, and bacterial food poisoning.
Chronic Digestive Issues: Gastroenterocolitis, enterocolitis, and cholecystitis caused by susceptible bacteria.
Dysbiosis: Imbalance of the intestinal microbiome, particularly after long-term antibiotic therapy.
Prophylaxis: Prevention of secondary bacterial infections in hospital settings or during seasonal outbreaks.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity: There are no absolute contraindications for Intestifag. However, individuals with a known allergy to the preservative (8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate) should use it with caution.
Note: It is generally safe for all age groups, including newborns and the elderly.
Dosage and Administration
Intestifag is primarily taken orally or administered rectally. For oral use, it must be taken 1 hour before meals.
Adults and Children over 8 years: 2-3 flacons (20-30 ml) orally, 3 times daily.
Children 3-8 years: 1-2 flacons (10-20 ml) orally, 2-3 times daily.
Children 1-3 years: 1 flacon (10 ml) orally, 2-3 times daily.
Infants (6-12 months): 5-10 ml orally or 10-20 ml via high enema.
Newborns (0-6 months): 5 ml orally or 10 ml via enema.
Special Administration Tips
The dropper cap on the 10ml flacon is excellent for measuring small doses for infants. When taking the dose orally, it is helpful to rinse the mouth with a weak baking soda solution (1/2 teaspoon in a glass of water) beforehand if the patient has high stomach acidity; this protects the phages from being deactivated by acid.
Side Effects and Adverse Reactions
Intestifag is considered exceptionally safe. No toxic or systemic adverse effects have been reported.
Initial Reaction: Some patients may notice a temporary increase in gas or mild abdominal rumbling during the first day of treatment as the pathogenic bacteria are being lysed.
Local: No irritation occurs when used correctly via the rectal or oral routes.
Special Precautions & Warnings
Integrity of Solution: The liquid must be clear. If the solution is cloudy, contains flakes, or has an unusual smell, it has been contaminated or deactivated and should be discarded.
Sterility: When using the dropper, do not touch the tip to the tongue or any other surface. It is best to pour the required amount into a sterile spoon or cup.
Pregnancy: Intestifag is non-toxic and can be used during pregnancy and lactation under the supervision of a physician.
Storage Conditions and Shelf Life
Cold Chain: Must be stored in a refrigerator at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C.
Transportation: The product can be kept at room temperature (up to 25°C) for a maximum of 30 days during transport, but must be returned to the fridge immediately after.
Shelf Life: 2 years.
Once a 10ml flacon is opened, it should ideally be used within 24 hours to ensure maximum sterility and phage activity.
