Pharmacodynamics

Nasoferon - antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antiproliferative agent. the biological effect of interferon is characterized by the following effects: antiviral - inhibits the replication of viruses (adenoviruses, influenza viruses) due to an inhibitory effect on the processes of transcription and translation; antiproliferative - inhibits the multiplication of cells (most DNA and RNA viruses). Interferon initiates the synthesis of a specific enzyme, protein kinase, which prevents translation due to phosphorylation of one of the initiating factors of this process; activates a specific ribonuclease that damages the viral matrix RNA. the effects of interferon also include: stimulation of the production of other cytokines, induction of specific enzymes, inhibition of cell proliferation, immunomodulation (increased phagocytic activity of macrophages and specific cytotoxicity of lymphocytes relative to target cells). interferon is a mediator of immunity, has a pronounced tissue specificity, protects the body from pathogens of infectious diseases.

Pharmacokinetics. Has not been investigated.

Indications

Prevention and treatment for ARVI in children aged 1 month (for nasal spray - from 1 year) and adults:

• in patients with frequent and long-term diseases of the upper respiratory tract;
• in contact with patients with acute respiratory viral infections;
• with hypothermia;
• with a seasonal increase in morbidity in organized groups (children and adults), in risk groups - medical workers, teachers, especially during an epidemic.

Application

At the first signs of ARVI (within 5 days):

• newborns and children aged 1 year - 1 drop 5 times a day (single dose - 8000 IU, daily dose - 40,000 IU);
• children aged 1-3 years - 2 drops (spray doses *) 3-4 times a day (single dose: drops - 16,000 IU, spray - 20,000 IU, daily dose: drops - 48,000-64,000 IU , spray - 60,000-80,000 IU);
• children aged 3-14 years - 2 drops (spray doses) 4-5 times a day (single dose: drops - 16,000 IU, spray - 20,000 IU, daily dose: drops - 64,000-80,000 IU, spray - 80,000-100,000 IU);
• children aged 14-18 years - 2 drops (spray doses) 5-6 times a day (single dose: drops - 16,000 IU, spray - 20,000 IU, daily dose: drops - 80,000–96,000 IU, spray - 100,000-120,000 IU);
• adults - 3 drops (spray doses) 5-6 times a day (single dose: drops - 24,000 IU, spray - 30,000 IU, daily dose: drops - 120,000-144,000 IU, spray - 150,000-180 000 IU).

* 1 spray dose = 1 short press on the dispenser.

For the prevention of respiratory viral infections. Upon contact with the patient and hypothermia - in accordance with the age dosage 2 times within 5-7 days. If necessary, preventive courses are repeated. With a single contact, one instillation (injection) is sufficient.

With a seasonal increase in morbidity - in accordance with the age dosage, once in the morning with an interval of 1-2 days.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to interferon alfa-2b and other components of the preparation, a history of severe allergic diseases. the period of pregnancy or lactation.

Side effects

In isolated cases - a skin rash.

Special instructions

Nazoferon nasal spray. the preparation contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate, which can cause allergic reactions, including delayed ones, in exceptional cases - bronchospasm.

Do not use the preparation in case of violation of the integrity and labeling of the package, when the physical properties (color or transparency of the liquid) change and after the expiration date.

Individual use is recommended to prevent the spread of infection.

The procedure for using a nasal spray:

1. Remove the protective cap from the bottle.

2. Activate the sprayer by pressing (test spray).

3. Being in an upright position, place the end of the nozzle alternately in each nasal passage and press the dosing pump.

4. After use, close the bottle with a cap.

Children. Use in children from 1 year of age.

Nazoferon nasal drops. The preparation should be injected into each nasal passage.

Before using the preparation, it is necessary to take a position lying on your back or sitting, tilt your head back slightly and turn towards the nasal passage into which the drops will be instilled, and, without touching the bottle dropper to the inner walls of the nose, drip the preparation. Immediately after instillation, to evenly distribute the preparation over the nasal mucosa, it is recommended to massage the wings of the nose with your fingers from the outside for several minutes.

The use of drops for children should be carried out under the supervision of adults.

The preparation contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate, which can cause allergic reactions, including delayed ones, in exceptional cases - bronchospasm.

Interactions

The simultaneous use of intranasal vasoconstrictor preparations is not recommended, as this leads to dryness of the nasal mucosa.
