Piracetam is a psychostimulant and nootropic agent.

1 ml piracetam 200 mg;

excipients: sodium acetate trihydrate E 262, water for injection.

Treatment of conditions accompanied by memory impairment, cognitive impairment.

The initial daily dose is 4.8 g during the first week of treatment. Usually the dose should be distributed over 2-3 administrations. The maintenance dose is 2.4 g per day. In the future, a gradual dose reduction by 1.2 g per day is possible.

Treatment of cortical myoclonus.

The initial daily dose is 24 g for 3 days. If during this time the desired therapeutic effect is not achieved, continue using the preparation at the same dosage (24 g / day) for up to 7 days. If no therapeutic effect is obtained on the 7th day of treatment, treatment should be discontinued. If the therapeutic effect has been achieved, then starting from the day when sustained improvement is achieved, begin to reduce the dose by 1.2 g of piracetam every 2 days, until manifestations of cortical myoclonus appear again. This will make it possible to establish an average effective dose.

Influence on platelet aggregation.

Due to the fact that piracetam reduces platelet aggregation, it is necessary to prescribe the preparation with caution to patients with impaired hemostasis, conditions that may be accompanied by hemorrhages (gastrointestinal tract ulcer), during major surgical operations (including dental interventions), patients with symptoms of severe bleeding or patients with a history of hemorrhagic stroke patients who use anticoagulants, platelet antiplatelet agents, including low doses of acetylsalicylic acid. It is excreted by the kidneys, therefore, special attention should be paid to patients with renal insufficiency.

Elderly patients. With prolonged therapy in elderly patients, regular monitoring of renal function indicators is recommended, if necessary, adjust the dose depending on the results of the study of creatinine clearance.

When treating patients with cortical myoclonus, abrupt interruption of treatment should be avoided due to the threat of generalization of myoclonus or the occurrence of seizures.

Penetrates through the filter membranes of hemodialysis machines.

The preparation  contains 1 mmol (23 mg) of sodium per 24 g of piracetam. This should be taken into account in patients on a sodium controlled diet.

The preparation should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Do not apply to this category of patients.

Care should be taken when driving or operating machinery.

Overdose symptoms were observed with oral administration at a dose of 75 g.

Treatment is symptomatic. There is no specific antidote, hemodialysis can be used (excretion of 50-60% of piracetam).

On the part of the blood and lymph: hemorrhagic disorders.

From the immune system: hypersensitivity, anaphylactoid reactions.

Mental disorders: nervousness, depression, hyperexcitability, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations.

From the nervous system: hyperkinesia, drowsiness, ataxia, imbalance, increased frequency of epileptic seizures, headache, insomnia, tremors.

On the part of the hearing and balance organs, dizziness.
