Indications

Prevention of cardiovascular diseases that can lead to the formation of blood clots and blockages in blood vessels: myocardial infarction, unstable and stable ischemic heart disease; prophylaxis of other diseases associated with blood clots in the vessels. Polocard is indicated in adult patients and adolescents over 16 years of age.

Composition

Acetylsalicylic acid 150mg. Other ingredients: corn starch, cellulose powder, sodium carboxymethyl starch, hypromellose, methacrylic acid copolymer, triethyl citrate, titanium dioxide (E171), talc, sodium lauryl sulfate, cochineal red, lake (E124), colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium bicarbonate.

Action

Acetylsalicylic acid, the active ingredient in low doses, inhibits platelet aggregation.

Dosage

The preparation should be taken orally, preferably with or after food and a little water. Usually the following dosage is recommended: 1 tablet of 150 mg per day.

Contraindications

Do not use Polocard: if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or any of the other ingredients of the preparation; if you are allergic to other NSAIDs with symptoms such as bronchospasm, hay fever, shock; if you suffer from bronchial asthma, chronic respiratory disease, hay fever or swelling of the nasal mucosa, as patients with these conditions may react to NSAIDs with asthma attacks, limited swelling of the skin and mucosa or urticaria more often than other patients; if you have an active stomach ulcer and / or duodenal ulcer, inflammation or bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract; if you have severe liver, kidney or heart failure; if you suffer from blood clotting disorders and if you are treated simultaneously with anticoagulants (coumarin derivatives, heparin); if you have a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase; if the patient is simultaneously receiving methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or more, due to the harmful effects on the bone marrow. In children under 12 years of age, especially with viral infections, due to the risk of Reye's syndrome, a rare but serious disease that causes damage to the liver and brain; in the last trimester of pregnancy.
