Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. The preparation contains an extract of the roots of pelargonium sidoides.

The agent affects the mechanism of attachment of bacteria and viruses to the mucous membrane, thereby preventing the penetration of viruses and bacteria into the body. The preparation has a pronounced immunomodulatory effect, which causes a rapid suppression of viral infection. It also prevents the growth of bacteria that have already entered the body, thereby preventing the development of complications. The preparation helps to activate the mechanisms of cleaning the respiratory tract, which improves the excretion of viscous mucus and eliminates the conditions for the further multiplication of pathogenic bacteria.

Treatment with the preparation leads to a rapid decrease in the severity of symptoms such as cough, severe sputum discharge, general malaise, fever and rhinitis, significantly reduces the duration of the disease, does not contribute to the development of microorganism resistance.

The preparation is a complex mixture of many components, which is generally regarded as an active substance.

Pharmacokinetics. There are no data on the pharmacokinetics of the preparation.

Indications

Acute and chronic infections of the respiratory tract and ENT organs (bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillar tonsillitis, rhinopharyngitis).

Application

The solution should be taken with a small amount of liquid 30 minutes before meals in the morning, afternoon and evening.

In the acute stage of the disease, they are usually prescribed:

adults and children over the age of 12 - 30 drops 3 times a day;

children aged 6 to 12 years - 20 drops 3 times a day;

children aged 1 to 6 years - 10 drops 3 times a day.

For the prevention of relapses and further treatment of chronic diseases, adults and children over the age of 12 are prescribed 10–20 drops of the preparation 3 times a day.

The average duration of the course of treatment of acute illness and prevention of relapse is 7-10 days. The total duration of treatment should not exceed 3 weeks.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any ingredient of the preparation, a predisposition to bleeding, concomitant use of preparations that slow down the blood clotting process, severe liver or kidney disease (due to the lack of sufficient experience with the use of this preparation in such cases).

Side effects

From the digestive tract: gastrointestinal disorders (including stomach pain, heartburn, nausea, diarrhea), easy bleeding from the gums.

From the respiratory system: mild nosebleeds.

On the part of the skin / on the part of the immune system: hypersensitivity reactions (including rash, urticaria, itching of the skin and mucous membranes). In isolated cases, severe hypersensitivity reactions with facial edema, shortness of breath and a decrease in blood pressure are possible.

From the hepatobiliary system: increased liver function indicators. A causal relationship between an increase in these indicators and the use of the preparation has not been demonstrated.

Special instructions

Use during pregnancy and lactation. due to the lack of sufficient experience with the use of the preparation resistol in pregnant women and women who are breastfeeding, it should not be taken during pregnancy and lactation.

Children. Due to the lack of sufficient data on the use of the preparation in infants, Resistol should not be prescribed to children under the age of 1 year. The use of the preparation Resistol for the treatment of young children (1–6 years old) is recommended under medical supervision.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. The effect of the preparation on the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms has not been studied, but it should be noted that the preparation contains 12 vol.% Ethanol.

Interactions

There are no communication messages.

Due to the possible effect of the preparation Resistol on the parameters of blood coagulation, it is possible that when used simultaneously with coumarin derivatives or other preparations that prevent blood clotting, their anticoagulant effect may increase. No interactions of the preparation Resistol with penicillin V.

Overdose

There are no reports of overdose. it is possible to increase the severity of adverse reactions.
