Product description

The preparation Sal Ems factitium - artificial salt works expectorant and alkalizing. The contained mixture of alkaline salts stimulates the secretion of mucus in the respiratory tract. The sodium bicarbonate contained in the preparation alkalizes the bronchial secretion, which leads to its liquefaction and facilitates expectoration.

Indications

Sal Ems factitium is used to treat:

• supporting inflammation of the respiratory tract and bronchial asthma.

Composition

1 effervescent tablet contains:

• active ingredient: artificial salt of salt 450 mg, including: sodium bicarbonate 318.150 mg, sodium bromide 0.045 mg, sodium phosphate anhydrous 0.225 mg, sodium chloride 121.500 mg, sodium sulfate anhydrous 4.050 mg, potassium sulfate 6.030 mg,
• excipients: sucrose 38 mg, sodium bicarbonate, sodium benzoate, tartaric acid, including ions: Na + 213 mg, K + 3 mg, SO4 2- 6 mg, Cl- 7.5 mg, CO3 2- 408 mg, HPO4 2- 150 µg, Br- 35 µg.

Action

Expectorant and alkalizing (stimulates the secretion of mucus in the respiratory tract; facilitates expectoration).

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Orally: dissolve 1 to 2 tablets in half or in a whole glass of boiled water with milk, or boiled, warm water.

Drink 3 times a day after eating.

If you have the impression that the effect of the preparation is too strong or too weak, consult your doctor.

Contraindications

Do not use if the patient is allergic to the active substances or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Do not use in the case of: tuberculosis, whooping cough, pleurisy.

Storage

Keep the preparation out of the sight and reach of children.

Keep the container tightly closed in order to protect from moisture.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Rare (affects 1 to 10 in 10,000 people) they may include:

• irritation of the gastric mucosa,
• heartburn,
• flatulence
• stomach pain.

Interactions

The preparation may increase the irritating effect of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory preparations on the gastric mucosa by causing excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid.

Increases the excretion of weak acid preparations and reduces the excretion of weak alkaline preparations by alkalinizing urine.

Warnings and Precautions

Take special care when using Sal Ems factitium in patients with gastric and duodenal ulcer disease due to increased acid secretion.

With long-term use, kidney stones may form and the risk of urinary tract infections is increased.

Due to the sodium content, use with caution in people on a low-sodium diet.

This medicine contains up to 9.26 mmol (or 213 mg) sodium per dose which should be taken into account in patients with reduced kidney function and in those on a sodium dietary control.

The preparation contains sugar and should be used with caution in diabetics.

If you have been diagnosed with an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking the preparation.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

The preparation may be used during pregnancy only when, in the doctor's opinion, the benefit for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

The preparation may be used during breastfeeding only in cases where, in the opinion of the doctor, the benefit for the mother outweighs the potential risk for the child.
