Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Troxerutin has an angioprotective and phlebotonizing effect. Troxerutin accumulates selectively in the endothelial layer of veins, penetrates deeply into the subendothelial layer of the venous wall, and the concentration is higher than in other tissues. the preparation prevents damage to cell membranes caused by oxidation. the antioxidant effect is manifested in the reduction and elimination of the oxidizing properties of oxygen, inhibition of lipid peroxidation, protection of the vascular endothelium from the oxidative action of hydroxyl radicals. troxerutin reduces increased capillary permeability and increases venous tone.

The cytoprotective effect is manifested in the inhibition of the activation and adhesion of neutrophils, a decrease in the aggregation of erythrocytes and an increase in the resistance of erythrocytes to deformation, and a decrease in the release of inflammatory mediators.

The preparation increases venous-arterial reflux, lengthens the time of venous filling, reduces blood flow to the skin (in the supine position), improves microcirculation and microvascular perfusion.

The action of the preparation is aimed at reducing the severity of pain, improving trophism and eliminating various pathological disorders associated with venous insufficiency.

Pharmacokinetics. Thanks to the dosage form of the preparation, Troxegel ensures complete absorption of the active substance through the stratum corneum of the epidermis and penetration into the blood vessels in the subcutaneous tissue.

Indications

For symptomatic treatment: venous insufficiency, pre-varicose and varicose syndrome, superficial thrombophlebitis, phlebitis and post-phlebitis conditions; for the complex treatment of hemorrhoidal disease; swelling and pain from injuries and varicose veins; muscle cramps (twitching of the calf muscles).

Application

The gel is applied to the affected area in an even thin layer in the morning and in the evening, rubbing in with light massage movements until the preparation is completely absorbed. does not leave greasy stains on clothes. the dosage and duration of use of the preparation is determined by the doctor depending on the severity and course of the disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to troxerutin or any other excipient of the preparation. Troxegel should not be applied to mucous membranes, open wounds and eczematous skin areas.

Side effects

In some cases, hypersensitivity reactions may occur, including skin irritation, erythema, itching, skin rashes, dermatitis, angioedema. these symptoms usually disappear after the preparation  is discontinued.

Special instructions

Long-term use can lead to the development of hypersensitivity!

Benzalkonium chloride may cause skin reactions. Patients with severe renal impairment are not recommended to use the preparation for a long time. If the severity of the symptoms of the disease does not decrease when taking the preparation, you should consult a doctor.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. There are no clinical data on the use of the preparation during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, it is permissible only according to the doctor's prescription, who will determine the ratio of benefit to the woman / risk to the fetus (child).

Children. There are no contraindications for using the preparation in children.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. Does not affect.

Interactions

Strengthens the effect of ascorbic acid on the structure and permeability of the vascular wall.

Overdose

When applied topically, cases of overdose have not been reported. if a large amount of the preparation is accidentally swallowed, it is necessary to take general measures to eliminate it: provoke vomiting, apply remedies for symptomatic treatment. if indicated, peritoneal dialysis is prescribed.
