Eye drops "Unilat" are used for the following indications:

• reduction of increased intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma and increased intraocular pressure;
• reduction of increased intraocular pressure in pediatric patients with increased intraocular pressure and childhood glaucoma.

Structure

1 ml of solution contains (active ingredient) latanoprost 50 μg.

Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate, sodium hydrogen phosphate anhydrous, benzalkonium chloride, concentrated hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, water for injection.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to drug components.

Mode of application

The recommended dose for adults, including the elderly. Recommended therapy: one drop in the affected eye once a day. The optimal effect is achieved when using the drug in the evening.

Latanoprost should not be used more often than 1 time per day, since it has been shown that with frequent use, the effectiveness of reducing intraocular pressure decreases.

If a dose is missed, treatment should be continued with the next dose at the usual time.

Method of use

As with any eye drops, in order to reduce possible systemic absorption during instillation, it is recommended to squeeze the lacrimal sac in the medial corner of the eye for one minute (occlusion of the lacrimal openings). This must be done immediately after each drop is instilled.

Before instilling eye drops, contact lenses should be removed, you can put them on again after 15 minutes.

When using several topical ophthalmic agents, the drugs should be used at intervals of at least 5 minutes.

Application features

Pregnant

The safety of this drug in pregnant women has not been established. Its pharmacological action constitutes a potential risk for the course of pregnancy, for the fetus or newborn. In this regard, latanoprost should not be used during pregnancy.

Latanoprost and its metabolites can pass into breast milk, therefore, women who are breastfeeding should stop drug treatment or stop breastfeeding.

Children

The drug can be used in pediatric patients in the same dosage as in adults.

Data on the efficacy and safety of the drug in the age group up to 1 year are very limited (4 patients). There are no data available on the use of premature infants (born before the 36th week of pregnancy).

In children of the age group from birth to 3 years old, suffering mainly from primary congenital glaucoma, surgery (eg trabeculotomy / goniotomy) remains the first-line method.

The long-term safety of the drug in children has not been established.

Drivers

The drug has little effect on the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms. As with other medications, eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision. Until this effect wears off, patients should not drive vehicles or work with other mechanisms.

Overdose

Symptoms In addition to eye irritation and conjunctival hyperemia, there were no other side effects from the eyes in case of an overdose of the drug.

Treatment. The information below may be helpful in case of accidental ingestion of the drug. One bottle contains 125 mcg of latanoprost. More than 90% is metabolized during the first passage through the liver. Infusion of the drug at a dose of 3 μg / kg to healthy volunteers did not cause any symptoms, however, at a dose of 5.5-10 μg / kg, it caused nausea, abdominal pain, dizziness, increased fatigue, hot flashes and increased sweating.

When applied topically in the eye doses of latanoprost, which are 7 times higher than the clinical dose of the drug, in patients with moderate bronchial asthma, bronchoconstriction was not observed.

In case of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be carried out.

Side effects

Most of the undesirable phenomena are associated with the organs of vision. In an open 5-year study of the safety of latanoprost, 33% of patients had a change in the pigmentation of the iris; other adverse events associated with the organs of vision are usually temporary and occur with the introduction of the drug.

Storage conditions

Store out of the reach of children, protected from light in the original packaging.

Before opening: store at a temperature of + 2-8 ° C. Do not freeze.

After opening, store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.

Store no more than 28 days after opening.

Shelf life is 3 years.

The shelf life of the drug after the first opening of the bottle is 28 days.
