Dosage and administration

Ventolin Evohaler is an aerosol intended for inhalation by mouth only. For patients who find it difficult to synchronize breathing with the use of an inhaler, it is recommended to additionally use a spacer - a device to facilitate the inhalation of inhaled preparations.
Adults (including elderly patients)
To relieve exacerbation of asthma symptoms, including acute bronchospasm, 1 inhalation (100 mcg) can be used as the minimum starting dose. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 200 mcg (2 inhalations).
Prophylactically 10-15 minutes before physical activity or expected contact with allergens, 200 mcg (2 inhalations) is used.
With long-term maintenance therapy, it is recommended to use 200 mcg (2 inhalations) 4 times a day. The total daily dose of salbutamol should not exceed 800 micrograms (8 inhalations).
For children over 12 years of age, doses are used as for adults.
Children from 4 to 12 years old
For the relief of acute bronchospasm, 1 inhalation (100 mcg) is used. If necessary, the dose can be increased to 200 mcg (2 inhalations).
Prophylactically 10-15 minutes before physical activity or expected contact with allergens, 100 mcg (1 inhalation) is used, if necessary, the dose can be increased to 200 mcg (2 inhalations).
With long-term maintenance therapy, it is recommended to use 200 mcg (2 inhalations) 4 times a day. The total daily dose of salbutamol should not exceed 800 micrograms (8 inhalations).
An increased need for beta2-agonists may indicate a worsening of asthma. In these conditions, the patient's treatment regimen should be reviewed and the need for glucocorticosteroid therapy should be considered.
Instructions for using the inhaler
Inhaler check.
Before using the inhaler for the first time or after a break in use of 5 days or more, remove the cap of the mouthpiece by gently pressing it from the sides, shake the inhaler well and make two sprays into the air to make sure it works adequately.
Inhaler use
Remove the mouthpiece cap by lightly pressing on the sides.
Make sure that there are no foreign objects inside and outside the inhaler, including the mouthpiece.
Shake the inhaler thoroughly to remove any foreign object from the inhaler and mix the contents of the device evenly.
Take the inhaler in your hand vertically between your thumb and other fingers, with your thumb on the body of the inhaler below the mouthpiece.
Exhale as deeply as possible, then take the mouthpiece in your mouth between your teeth and cover it with your lips without biting.
While inhaling through the mouth, depress the tip of the inhaler to nebulize the salbutamol, continue to inhale slowly and deeply. One click on the top of the inhaler corresponds to one dose.
Hold your breath, remove the inhaler from your mouth and remove your finger from the top of the inhaler. Continue to hold your breath for as long as possible.
If further sprays are necessary, wait approximately 30 seconds while holding the inhaler upright. Then follow the steps described in points 3-7.
Push the mouthpiece cap back into place by pushing in the desired direction until it clicks.

IMPORTANT:

Follow the steps described in points 5, 6 and 7 slowly. Before spraying, inhale as slowly as possible. The first few times you should practice in front of a mirror. If a cloud appears at the top of the inhaler or on the sides of the mouth, it is necessary to start the procedure again from point 2.
If your doctor has given other instructions for using your inhaler, follow them and seek advice if you experience any difficulties.
Children. Young children may need help; it may be necessary for inhalation to be carried out by adults. Ask the child to exhale and spray as soon as he starts to inhale. It is recommended to master the technique together. Older children or debilitated adults can hold the inhaler with both hands. Place both index fingers on the top of the inhaler and both thumbs on the base below the mouthpiece.

Cleaning

The inhaler should be cleaned at least once a week.
Remove the metal canister from the plastic inhaler case and remove the mouthpiece cap.
Rinse the plastic case and mouthpiece cap with warm water.
Dry them outside and inside.
Replace the metal bottle and mouthpiece cap.
DO NOT PUT METAL CYLINDER IN WATER.
