PYRANTELUM 250MG 

Pyrantelum Polpharma is an antiparasitic drug intended for children from 6 years of age and adults in the treatment of intestinal infection with pinworms - white-colored round worms. This drug works on the muscles of the intestinal parasites. Immobilized parasites are removed from the intestine by peristaltic movements of the intestines. Pyrantel does not irritate the intestines or make the worms travel. It affects mature forms and early-stage parasites, but it does not affect the larvae during their migration in the tissues. The active substance is pyrantel.

Indications:

pinworm. The condition for using the drug is the presence of pinworms in the stool and / or around the anus.

Composition:

the active substance of the drug is pyrantel. 1 tablet contains 250 mg of pyrantel in the form of pyrantel pamoate. The other ingredients are: potato starch, povidone, colloidal anhydrous silica, ethylcellulose, magnesium stearate, orange flavor.

Action:

antiparasitic.

Dosage:

depending on the patient's body weight: 17-28 kg 1 tablet, 29-39 kg 1.5 tablets, 40-50 kg 2 tablets, 51-62 kg 2.5 tablets, 63-75 kg 3 tablets, adults weighing more than 75 kg 4 pills. The dose should be repeated two or three weeks after the first dose. The drug is administered orally during or after a meal with water. Chew or crush the tablet very carefully before swallowing. The drug is taken orally with a meal with water. The dose should be repeated two or three weeks after the first dose. Parasitological control tests should be performed 14 days after the end of treatment.

Contraindications:

Do not use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, while taking piperazine, during the treatment of myasthenia gravis. Do not use in children under 6 years of age. It is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women (if treatment is necessary, please contact your doctor). Patients with liver problems should consult a doctor before taking this medicine.

Storage:

Side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Side effects are uncommon after use and disappear after discontinuation of treatment. Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 patients): nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and cramps, diarrhea, anorexia, headache, dizziness, somnolence, insomnia, rash, weakness, transient increase in the levels of transaminases (enzymes that help the liver). Not known side effects (frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): stool pressure, confusion hallucinations, paraesthesia (numbness, tingling sensation in the extremities), fever, hearing impairment.

Interactions:

tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the drugs you are taking or have recently taken, and about any drugs you plan to take. The drug may increase the concentration of theophylline (used in the treatment of bronchial asthma) in the plasma. The drug should not be used simultaneously with piperazine, as the effects of both drugs may be reduced.
