Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics.

Atoxil is an enterosorbent with pronounced sorption properties, exhibits detoxification, antimicrobial and wound healing effects. It adsorbs from the digestive tract and removes from the body toxic substances of various origins (endogenous and exogenous), including:

• different types of allergens (food and bacterial);
• various types of toxic substances and microbial endotoxins;
• products with toxic properties for the body, which are formed in humans during the decay of proteins in the intestines.

This preparation promotes transportation from the internal environment of the body, namely blood, lymph, interstitium (stroma) into the digestive tract due to gradients (concentration and osmotic) of various toxic products, including oligopeptides, amines, medium molecules, and other substances with subsequent excretion them out of the body.

Pharmacokinetics.

The preparation is practically not absorbed in the intestine.

Clinical characteristics

Indications

Acute intestinal diseases, which are accompanied by diarrheal syndrome (it can be salmonellosis, foodborne diseases), and is also widely used in the complex therapy of viral hepatitis a and b. can be applied externally as an external treatment of purulent wounds, trophic ulcers, burns of various origins.

Contraindications

 hypersensitivity to silicon dioxide (the main component of the preparation) gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, if it is in an acute stage; intestinal ulcers and erosion; intestinal obstruction.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other types of interactions.

If atoxil is taken in combination with acetylsalicylic acid, then the process of platelet disaggregation in the human body is enhanced. but in complex therapy with nicotinic acid and simvastatin, atoxil exhibits a synergistic effect - it promotes ↓ the level of atherogenic fractions of the lipid spectrum of the blood and ↑ the level of cholesterol vapors. if atoxil is prescribed for intracorporeal sorption detoxification in combination with standard solutions of antiseptics (it can be furacilin, bifuran, trifuran, chlorhexidine bigluconate), then due to such a well-combined appointment ↑ the effectiveness of treatment of purulent-inflammatory diseases.

Application features

Attention! the use of dry powder inside is prohibited !!!.

During complex therapy, when combined with other preparations, Atoxil should be taken 1 hour before taking other preparations that are used per os, due to their possibility of absorption and, as a result, a decrease in the effectiveness of preparationstaken in combination.

Application during pregnancy or lactation.

Due to the lack of data on the use of Atoxil during periods when a woman is expecting a child or is already breastfeeding, the use of the preparation  is not recommended (since there is no data on its use).

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving a different category of cars or when working with various kinds of mechanical devices.

Method of administration and dosage

Oral administration. dosing for adults and children.

In the form of a suspension, appoint only internally: the contents of 1-2 sachets (by weight, it is somewhere in the aisles of 2-4 g), thoroughly stir in 50-100 ml (¼-½ cup) of neutral still or cooled boiled water until homogeneous suspension.

Or, if this is a bottle with the contents, then open it, add neutral still or cooled boiled water to the powder to the mark of 250 ml, and mix well until a homogeneous suspension is formed.

The daily dose for adults and children ↑ 7 years old is 12 g, but if it is very necessary (critical cases), the daily dose can be ↑ up to 24 g.

For children in the age range 1 - 7 years, the daily dose ranges from 150-200 mg per 1 kg m body. It is necessary to divide the daily dose into 3-4 administration preparations. The maximum single dose should not exceed 1/2 of the daily dose.

The resulting aqueous suspension of the preparationis taken orally 1 hour before meals or before taking other concomitant medications.

If an intestinal disease occurs acutely, then it is advisable to start the dose for adults and children ↑ 7 years old immediately with the maximum single dose, which is 7 g, the preparation should be taken 2-3 times a day. If the patient cannot take the enterosorbent on his own, the Atoxil suspension should be introduced into the stomach through a tube.

In acute intestinal diseases, the course of treatment is 3-5 days. In severe cases, the treatment period can be ↑ and extended to 10-15 days.

The course of treatment for viral hepatitis depends on the severity of the disease and is in the range of 7-10 days.

External use. Clean the wound, after this procedure, apply the powder with a layer of 3-5 mm and cover with a dry aseptic bandage. Change the dressings on the wound every day until the wound is completely cleansed.

Children. Do not administer to children aged ↓ 1 year.

Overdose

No information (messages) has been reported about such incidents (overdose cases).

The preparation is often well tolerated. very rarely, constipation is possible.

Storage conditions
