Beiersdorf AG is a German manufacturer of skin care products. The headquarters are located in Hamburg.
The company was founded in 1882 by Karl Paul Beiersdorff, who created an adhesive plaster and received a patent for its production. In 1890, the company was bought by the pharmacist and businessman Oskar Troplowitz.
The majority stake in Beiersdorf belongs to Maxingvest AG, the parent company of Tchibo, which is known for the instant coffee of the same name.
Beiersdorf is one of the 30 largest German public companies for which the DAX (Deutscher Aktienindex, GER30), the main index of the German stock market, is calculated.
