Product description
Castagnus 45 mg is a herbal medicinal product intended for the treatment of mild symptoms appearing in the period preceding menstruation (PMS). The medicine is intended for use by adult women.
Castagnus 45 mg 30 tablets – indications
mild symptoms accompanying the period before menstruation (premenstrual syndrome - PMS), such as:
- breast pain and swelling,
- emotional balance,
- migraine headaches,
- swelling around the face, hands and feet.
Each Castagnus 45 mg 30 tablets contains the active substance Vitex agnus castus L. Fructus (chasteberry fruit extract) in a dose of 4.5 mg. The product reduces the level of prolactin secreted by the pituitary gland, thus causing the disappearance of premenstrual syndrome and cycle disorders.
The medicine is intended for use by adult women over 18 years of age. The maximum dose is 1 tablet a day, taken in the morning.
The preparation is in the form of round, beige-ash tablets with marble. The tablets are placed in a blister and packed in a cardboard box. The package contains 30 tablets.
Indications
Castagnus 45 mg 30 tablets is used to treat:
menstrual cycle disorders,
mild symptoms accompanying menstruation (PMS), including: breast pain and swelling, emotional imbalance, headaches, swelling around the face, hands and feet.
Composition
1 tablet Castagnus 45 mg 30 tablets contains:
active substance: extract (as dry extract) from Vitex agnus castus L. fructus 4.5 mg, extraction solvent - ethanol 60% (m/m),
other ingredients: lactose monohydrate, potato starch, povidone K 30, magnesium stearate.
Action
It alleviates mild symptoms accompanying menstruation, reduces the level of prolactin secreted by the pituitary gland, causes the disappearance of premenstrual syndrome and menstrual cycle disorders.
Dosage
Always take your medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Adult women: 1 tablet 1 time per day.
The medicine is intended for oral administration only in the morning.
Contraindications
If you are allergic to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
The medicine should not be used by people under 18 years of age.
Storage
The medicine should be stored at a temperature below 25°C, out of the sight and reach of children.
Side effects
Castagnus 45 mg 30 tablets, like any other medicine, can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them.
While taking Castagnus, the following may occur:
- Immune system disorders: severe allergic reactions with facial swelling, shortness of breath and difficulty swallowing.
- skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: allergic skin reactions (rash, hives), acne,
- nervous system disorders: headaches and dizziness,
- stomach and intestinal disorders: nausea, abdominal pain,
- reproductive system and breast disorders: menstrual cycle disorders.
Interactions
Due to the possible dopaminergic and estrogenic effects of chasteberry fruit, interactions with preparations from the group of agonists or antagonists of dopamine and estrogen receptors cannot be ruled out, e.g.:
- antipsychotics, antiparkinsonian preparations, preparations used in hormone replacement therapy, oral contraceptives, metoclopramide, bromocriptine.
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Castagnus 45 mg 30 tablets.
Patients who have or are suffering from estrogen-dependent cancer should consult a doctor before using the preparation.
Patients who use preparation from the group of agonists or antagonists of dopamine or estrogen receptors should consult a doctor before using the preparation.
The use of the preparation in children and adolescents under 18 years of age is not recommended due to the lack of adequate data.
If symptoms worsen while taking the preparation, consult a doctor.
It is suggested that chasteberry extract affects the pituitary-hypothalamic axis and therefore patients with pituitary dysfunction should consult a doctor before using the preparation.
In the case of pituitary tumors that release prolactin, the use of chasteberry fruit products may mask the symptoms of the tumor.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding and effects on fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Pregnancy:
The medicine should not be used during pregnancy.
Breast-feeding:
Data from preclinical reproductive studies indicate that chasteberry fruit extracts may have an effect on lactation. The use of the preparation during breastfeeding is not recommended.
Fertility:
The effect on fertility is unknown.
Driving and using machines:
No studies on the effects on the ability to drive and use machines have been performed.
