Product description

Cefma Children's suspension is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by pathogens sensitive to the preparation:
  • ENT infections (including sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, acute and otitis media);
  • respiratory tract infections (including pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis);
  • uncomplicated upper and lower urinary tract infections;
  • infections of the skin and soft tissues.

Compound

active substance: cefpodoxime;
5 ml of oral suspension containing cefpodoxime proxetil 52.219 mg, which corresponds to 40 mg of cefpodoxime;
excipients: silicon dioxide, iron oxide (E172), talc, sorbitan trioleate, lemon flavor, citric acid, sodium chloride, sodium benzoate (E 211), orange flavor, aspartame (E 951), guar gum (E 412), sucrose.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to cefpodoxime, preparations of the cephalosporin group or to any of the components of the preparation.
A history of immediate or severe hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin or any other type of beta-lactam preparation.
Since the preparation contains aspartame, it is not suitable for children with phenylketonuria.
For neonates under 28 days of age and for infants between 4 weeks and 3 months of age with renal failure, treatment is not recommended as such experience is lacking.

Mode of application

The recommended dose for children is 8 mg / kg / day, administered in two doses at intervals of 12 hours. A graduated syringe (10 ml) with 0.5 ml graduations is supplied with the bottle to ensure an accurate dose.
The suspension is prepared by adding water to the vial with a calibration mark and shaking thoroughly until a thoroughly dispersed suspension is obtained.

The preparation should be used in children aged 4 weeks to 12 years. In infants 4 weeks to 3 months of age with renal failure, treatment is not recommended because experience is lacking.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea. In patients with renal insufficiency, overdose can lead to the development of encephalopathy, usually reversible after a decrease in plasma levels of cefpodoxime.
Treatment.
In case of overdose with cefpodoxime, prescribe supportive and symptomatic therapy. Hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis.

Adverse Reactions

from the digestive tract: often - anorexia, intragastric pressure, gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, diarrhea. Bloody diarrhea may be a symptom of enterocolitis; rarely - a feeling of thirst, tenesmus, dyspepsia, dry mouth, decreased appetite, constipation, candidal stomatitis, belching, gastritis, mouth ulcers, acute pancreatitis, pseudomembranous colitis.

Interaction

Bioavailability increases when the preparation is taken with meals.
Cefpodoxime should not be used concomitantly with bacteriostatic antibiotics (for example, chloramphenicol, erythromycin, sulfonamides, or tetracycline), since the effect of cefpodoxime may be reduced.
A pseudo-positive urinary glucose reaction can be detected with Benedict / Fehling solutions or copper sulfate, but such a reaction has not been found with tests based on enzymatic glucose oxidase reactions.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
The finished suspension should be stored at a temperature of 2 - 8 ° C for no more than 14 days.

Keep out of the reach of children.
Best before date. 3 years.
