Product description

"Celebrex ®" capsules are used for the following indications:

for symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis;
for the treatment of acute pain in adult patients;
for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea.

Storage

The active substance is celecoxib (one capsule contains 200 mg of celecoxib).

Excipients: lactose, monohydrate; sodium lauryl sulfate; povidone; croscarmellose sodium; magnesium stearate; gelatin; titanium dioxide (E 171); shellac; anhydrous ethanol; isopropyl alcohol; butyl alcohol; propylene glycol; concentrated ammonia solution; iron oxide yellow (E 172).

Contraindication

"Celebrex ®" is contraindicated in patients:

with known hypersensitivity (eg, anaphylactic reactions and severe skin reactions) to celecoxib or to any component of the preparation;

with a history of bronchial asthma, cases of urticaria or other allergic-type reactions after the use of aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory preparations (severe, sometimes fatal, anaphylactic reactions to NSAIDs have been reported in such patients);

after coronary artery bypass surgery;

in which allergic-type reactions to sulfonamide preparations were registered.

Application method

General dosage instructions

Before making a decision on the use of this medicinal product, one should carefully weigh the expected potential benefits and risks from the use of the preparation "Celebrex ®" and consider the expediency of other treatment options. The lowest effective dose of the preparation should be used for the shortest period according to the treatment goals of the individual patient.

This preparation can be taken regardless of food intake.

Osteoarthritis

In the treatment of osteoarthritis, the dose is 200 mg once a day or 100 mg 2 times a day.

Rheumatoid arthritis

In the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, the dose is from 100 to 200 mg 2 times a day.

Ankylosing spondylitis

For the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis, the daily dose of the preparation is 200 mg, which should be taken at once (taken once a day) or divided (taken twice a day). If no positive effect is observed within 6 weeks, the dose can be increased to 400 mg per day. If within 6 weeks no effect is observed when using the preparation at a dose of 400 mg per day, the response to treatment is unlikely, so alternative treatment options should be considered.

Control of acute pain and treatment of primary dysmenorrhea

For the control of acute pain and the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea, the initial dose is 400 mg, followed by an additional dose of 200 mg on the first day if necessary. In the following days, the recommended dose is 200 mg 2 times a day if necessary.

Features of application

The use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory preparations, including the preparation "Celebrex ®", during the III trimester of pregnancy increases the risk of premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus. The use of NSAIDs, including the preparation "Celebrex ® ", should be avoided by pregnant women starting from the 30th week of pregnancy.

"Celebrex ®" should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. The benefit to the health and development of the child from breastfeeding should be evaluated in comparison with the mother's clinical need for the preparation "Celebrex ®", as well as any potential side effects of the preparation "Celebrex ®" or the effect of the mother's underlying disease on the child.

Children

The preparation "Celebrex ®" (capsules of 200 mg) is not indicated for use in children.

Drivers

In case of side effects such as dizziness, vertigo or drowsiness when using celecoxib, you should avoid driving vehicles and working with mechanisms.

Overdose

Symptoms of an acute overdose of NSAIDs, as a rule, are limited to lethargy, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and pain in the epigastric area and are usually reversible with the use of supportive therapy. Cases of gastrointestinal bleeding have been reported. In rare cases, arterial hypertension, acute renal failure, respiratory depression and coma have been reported.

No cases of overdose with the preparation "Celebrex®" were registered during clinical studies. As a result of the use of the preparation in doses of up to 2400 mg/day for a period of up to 10 days, no cases of serious intoxication were registered in 12 patients. There is no information on the possibility of removing celecoxib by hemodialysis, but based on the high degree of binding to blood plasma proteins (> 97%), it can be assumed that dialysis in case of overdose will be ineffective.

After an overdose of NSAIDs, patients should be treated symptomatically and supportively. There are no special antidotes. Consideration should be given to inducing vomiting and/or taking activated charcoal (60-100 g for adults, 1-2 g per 1 kg of body weight for children) and/or an osmotic laxative in patients who experience symptoms within four hours of the injection. overdose, as well as patients with severe overdose (the dose is 5-10 times higher than the recommended dose).

Forced diuresis, alkalinization of urine, hemodialysis or hemoperfusion are not used due to high protein binding.
