Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Komplevit is a multivitamin preparation. the effect of the preparation is determined by the properties of water-soluble vitamins of group B and vitamin C, which are part of its composition and are components of enzyme systems; actively affect various functions of the body: they regulate energy and metabolic processes in the body, normalize the work of organs and systems, accelerate the processes of tissue regeneration, increase the body's performance during mental and physical stress, contribute to an increase in the body's resistance to infectious diseases, adaptation to stress.

Vitamin B1 normalizes the functional activity of the nervous, cardiovascular and digestive systems.

Vitamin B2 plays an important role in protein, fat and carbohydrate metabolism, is involved in maintaining normal visual acuity, and normalizes skin functions.

Vitamin B6 is necessary for the regeneration of the skin and liver cells, restoration of the nervous system, and improves fat metabolism in atherosclerosis.

Folic acid, in addition to antianemic effects during pregnancy, protects the fetus from the effects of teratogenic factors, participates in the exchange and synthesis of amino and nucleic acids.

Vitamin PP is a specific antipellagric agent that improves carbohydrate metabolism.

Calcium pantothenate plays an important role in oxidation processes, participates in carbohydrate and fat metabolism, in the synthesis of acetylcholine, which is involved in the transmission of nerve impulses.

Vitamin B12 affects the processes of normal maturation of all cells of the body, especially blood and liver cells, has a beneficial effect on the functioning of the nervous system and liver.

Vitamin C plays an important role in the regulation of redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting, tissue regeneration, normal capillary permeability, the formation of steroid hormones and connective tissue components, and helps to increase the body's resistance to infectious diseases.

Pharmacokinetics. The preparation is well absorbed in the digestive tract, its metabolic products are excreted from the body mainly with feces and urine.

Indications

Treatment of hypo- and avitaminosis caused by insufficient intake or increased need for vitamins: irregular and monotonous nutrition; improvement of metabolism and general condition of all age groups; period of increased mental and physical stress; the period of pregnancy or lactation; period of active sports; stress; chronic diseases; recovery period after serious illness, after antibiotic and chemotherapy, before and after surgery; in the complex treatment of patients with atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease and liver diseases.

Application

Komplevit should be taken orally during meals with plenty of water. adults and adolescents over the age of 14 are prescribed 1-2 capsules once a day, the course of treatment is 20 days. if necessary, a second course is carried out after 2 months (after consulting a doctor).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the preparations components, thromboembolism, a tendency to thrombosis, thrombophlebitis, erythremia, erythrocytosis, severe kidney disease, stomach and duodenal ulcers, severe liver dysfunction, active hepatitis, neoplasms (except for cases accompanied by megaloblastic anemia) (severe forms), gout, hyperuricemia, nephrolithiasis, disorders of iron and copper metabolism, hypercalcemia.

Side effects

From the side of the immune system: possible reactions of increased sensitivity to the components of the preparation, including anaphylactic shock, bronchospasm, angioedema.

From the side of metabolism and digestion: hypercalcemia.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: hypertension.

From the hematopoietic system: hemolysis of erythrocytes in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, blood clotting disorders.

From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, sleep disturbances, irritability, fatigue.

From the side of the organ of vision: blurred vision, dry skin / mucous membrane of the eye.

From the digestive tract: dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, belching, stomach pain, constipation, diarrhea, increased secretion of gastric juice.

Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: rash, urticaria, itching, redness.

On the part of the kidneys and urinary tract: discoloration of urine, hypercalciuria, crystalluria, glucosuria.

General violations and violations of the conditions of admission: hyperthermia, irritability, hyperhidrosis, hot flashes, which may be accompanied by a feeling of palpitations.

During long-term use of high doses, the following adverse reactions may occur.

From the side of metabolism and digestion: hyperuricemia, impaired glucose tolerance, hyperglycemia, impaired metabolism of zinc, copper.

From the nervous system: paresthesia, convulsions, anorexia.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: arrhythmias, arterial hypotension.

From the hematopoietic system: erythrocytopenia, neutrophilic leukocytosis.

From the digestive tract: gastrointestinal disorders.

On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: hair loss, seborrhea, hyperpigmentation.

On the part of the kidneys and urinary tract: renal failure.

From the hepatobiliary system: jaundice, fatty degeneration of the liver.

From the musculoskeletal system: myalgia, myopathy.

Laboratory indicators: a temporary increase in the level of AST, alkaline phosphatase, LDH, an increase in the level of uric acid in the blood, an electrolyte imbalance.

Special instructions

The preparation contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with hereditary galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome. not recommended for use with other multivitamin complexes in order to avoid overdose and the development of adverse reactions.

The color of urine in yellow is possible, which is a completely harmless factor and is explained by the presence of riboflavin in the preparation.

The preparation should be taken with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus, dystrophic heart diseases, diseases of the hematopoietic organs, impaired iron metabolism (hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis, thalassemia), with gastrointestinal diseases, glaucoma, hemorrhages, moderate arterial hypotension. When using the preparation, it is necessary to control blood pressure and the state of the kidneys. It should be borne in mind that the use of ascorbic acid in high doses can change some laboratory parameters (blood glucose, transaminases, uric acid, creatinine). The simultaneous intake of ascorbic acid with an alkaline drink reduces its absorption, therefore, you should not drink the preparation  with alkaline mineral water. Do not take this medicine with hot drinks (especially coffee), alcohol. It is not recommended to take the preparation at the end of the day, as ascorbic acid has a mild stimulating effect. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. Take only as directed by your doctor. During pregnancy, the use of excessive doses of ascorbic acid can lead to the development of its deficiency and dependence in the fetus. Ascorbic acid passes into breast milk.

Children. The preparation  in this dosage form should not be used in children under the age of 14 years.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. There are no references to the fact that the preparation can have a negative effect when driving or working with complex equipment.

Interactions

When using short-acting sulfonamides with ascorbic acid, the risk of crystalluria increases. with simultaneous use, it enhances the effect of penicillin, increases the absorption of iron, reduces the effectiveness of heparin and indirect anticoagulants, enhances the absorption of aluminum (taken into account while treating with antacids containing aluminum). absorption of vitamin C decreases with simultaneous use with oral contraceptives, the use of fruit or vegetable juices, alkaline drinks. ascorbic acid can be taken only 2 hours after deferoxamine injection. long-term use of high doses of ascorbic acid reduces the effectiveness of disulfiram treatment. high doses of the preparation reduce the effectiveness of tricyclic antidepressants, neuroleptics - phenothiazine derivatives, tubular reabsorption of amphetamine, disrupt the excretion of mexiletine by the kidneys.

Ascorbic acid increases the total clearance of ethyl alcohol. Quinolone preparations, calcium chloride, salicylates, tetracyclines, corticosteroids, with prolonged use, reduce the reserves of ascorbic acid in the body. Ascorbic acid increases urinary excretion of oxalates and increases the risk of crystalluria when treated with salicylates. Folic acid decreases plasma concentrations of phenytoin. Simultaneous use with antithrombotic preparations leads to an increased risk of bleeding, with antihypertensive preparations - an increase in arterial hypotension, with hypolipidemic preparations - an increase in the risk of their toxic effects, with antidiabetic preparations - a decrease in the hypoglycemic effect of the latter, with methyldopa or β-adrenoreceptor blockers - a significant decrease AD, with probenecid - reducing the effect of probenecid.

Vitamin B6 weakens the effect of levodopa, prevents or reduces the toxic manifestations of isoniazid and other anti-tuberculosis preparations.

Ethyl alcohol, PASK, cimetidine, calcium preparations reduce the absorption of vitamin B12. It is prescribed with caution to patients with angina pectoris, with unstable angina pectoris and acute myocardial infarction, who receive nitrates, calcium channel antagonists and β-adrenergic receptor blockers. When using nicotinic acid with lovastatin, cases of rhabdomyolysis have been reported.
