ESPEFA

The Chemical - Pharmaceutical Spółdzielnia Pracy ESPEFA  was established in 1946 under the name Farmaceutyczna Spółdzielnia Pracy ATOM, on the initiative of Stanisław Szymański, Aleksander Kaszycki and Jan Szustow, MA pharmacists. The founding meeting was held on September 9, 1946 in Krakow at the premises at ul. St. Jana 2, where 10 pharmacy masters declared joining the cooperative as founding members.

The years 1946 - 1947 were the organizational period of the Cooperative, aimed at launching a galenic laboratory and establishing the production profile. In the obtained rooms, the galenic laboratory started the production of various types of syrups, tinctures, Javanese turmeric extract, liquid for corns, salicylic spirit, Burowa tablets and sulfathiazole tablets.

On April 23, 1949, by a resolution of the General Meeting, the former name of Spółdzielnia ATOM was changed to Chemiczno - Farmaceutyczna Spółdzielnia Pracy ESPEFA .

In the years 1950 - 1975, the ESPEFA Labor Cooperative was the author or co-author of the launch of the production of 11 new drugs and 8 chemical and pharmaceutical intermediates.

The lease of premises and the dispersion of the location of the Cooperative were not favorable for it. At that time, the demand of the Polish market for the products of the ESPEFA Cooperative also increased, which prompted its management to undertake the construction of an appropriate industrial plant enabling the production of more drugs. The investment program included the construction of two new interconnected facilities. The new building was put into use on January 2, 1989. Having our own production building created greater production and development stability for the enterprise.

In October 1993, a trade and service pavilion was opened, which houses the Sales Department and the Medicines Wholesale.

The gradual expansion of the plant allowed for the gradual modernization of equipment and technological processes. Completely new in every respect, modern production lines for tabletting, blistering, packaging and liquid forms were created.

Today ESPEFA is a modern pharmaceutical production plant privately owned by the members of the Cooperative. The Cooperative owes its technological, production and economic achievements to professional personnel. Experienced management cares about the quality of manufactured drugs and constantly works on the implementation of technological and pharmaceutical innovations.
