Product description

Nitrofurantoin is an antimicrobial agent, uroantiseptic of the nitrofuran group. Due to the rapid excretion in the urine after taking the preparation, the main therapeutic dose is concentrated in the bladder. Therefore, nitrofurantoin has a bacteriostatic and bactericidal effect on the main causative agents of inflammation in the bladder and urinary tract.

Indications

• cystitis;
• urethritis;
• pyelonephritis;
• pyelitis;
• prevention of infectious complications during cystoscopy, urological operations, using urinary catheters.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation;
• hypersensitivity to the nitrofuran group;
• anuria;
• oliguria;
• acute porphyria;
• cirrhosis of the liver or chronic hepatitis;
• renal failure;
• hemodialysis;
• pyelonephritis;
• the threat of hemolytic anemia;
• neuritis and polyneuropathy;
• pulmonary fibrosis.

Mode of application

Acute infections: 100 mg 2 times a day, the course of treatment is 7 days.

Severe chronic recurrent infections: 100 mg 4 times a day, a course of 7 days. The highest single dose is 300 mg, the maximum daily dose is 600 mg.

Prophylaxis in surgery: 100 mg 2 times a day.

Furadonin should be taken immediately after meals with plenty of water.

Children

Reception of Furadonin is allowed for children from 12 years old.

Overdose

Overdose is manifested by nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness.

Treatment: preparation withdrawal, drinking plenty of water, sorbents and antihistamines. In case of an acute overdose, the stomach is washed. Hemodialysis is also possible.

Composition

The active substance of Furadonin is nitrofurantoin.
