Helicid Control contains the active substance omeprazole. It belongs to a group of medicines called 'proton pump inhibitors'. These preparations work by reducing the amount of acid that your stomach produces. Helicid Control is used in adults to treat the short-term symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux such as heartburn and acid regurgitation. Reflux is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet, which may become inflamed and painful. This can cause symptoms such as a burning pain in the chest rising up to the throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth.

Indications

In adults: gastroesophageal reflus disease (GERD). This is where acid from the stomach escapes into the gullet (the tube which connects your throat to your stomach) causing pain, inflammation and heartburn. Ulcers in the upper intestine (duodenal ulcer) or stomach (stomach ulcer). Ulcers which are infected with bacteria called "Helicobacter pylori". If this happens, your doctor may also prescribe an antibiotic to treat the infection and allow the ulcer to heal. Ulcers caused by preparations known as NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Preparations). It can also be used to prevent ulcers from developing while you are taking NSAIDs. Too much acid in the stomach caused by a growth in the pancreas (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome)

Composition

1 capsule contains: 10 mg omeprazole (as omeprazole sodium) and excipients: sucrose granules, anhydrous lactose, hypromelase, hydroxypropyl cellulose, sodium lauryl sulfate, disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, triethyl citrate, talc, methacrylic acid-1 ethyl acrylate copolymer . The composition of the shell: black iron oxide, red iron oxide, titanium dioxide, yellow iron oxide, gelatin.

Dosage

Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Adults: To treat symptoms of GERD such as heartburn and acid regurgitation: If your doctor determines that your esophagus has slightly damaged, the usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 4-8 weeks. Your doctor may tell you to take a 40 mg dose for another 8 weeks if your esophagus is not yet healed. The usual dose once the gullet has healed is 10 mg once a day. If the esophagus is not damaged, the usual dose is 10 mg once a day.

To treat ulcers of the upper small intestine (duodenal ulcer): the usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 2 weeks. your doctor may advise you to take the same dose for a further 2 weeks if the ulcers do not heal within this time. If the ulcer do not fully heal, the dose can be increased to 40 mg once a day for 4 weeks.

To treat ulcers in the stomach (gastric ulcer): the usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 4 weeks. Your doctor may advise you to take the same dose for a further 4 weeks if the ulcers do not heal within this time. If the ulcer does not fully heal, the dose can be increased to 40 mg once a day for 8 weeks.

To prevent the duodenal and stomach ulcers from coming back: the usual dose is 10 mg or 20 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase the dose to 40 mg once a day.

To treat duodenal and stomach ulcers caused by NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Preparations ): the usual dose is 20 mg once a day for 4-8 weeks.

To prevent the duodenal and stomach ulcers from coming back when you are taking NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Preparations ): the usual dose is 20 mg once a day.

To treat ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and to prevent them from coming back: the usual dose of Helicid is 20 mg twice a day for one week. Your doctor will also advise you to take two antibiotics, including amoxicillin, clarithromycin and metronidazole.

To treat too much acid in the stomach caused by a growth in the pancreas (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome): the usual dose is 60 mg daily. The doctor will adjust the dose depending on the individual needs of the patient, and will also decide for how long it will be necessary to take the preparation.

Children: To treat symptoms of GERD such as heartburn and acid regurgitation: children over 1 year of age and weighing over 10 kg may take omeprazole. The dose for children is based on the child's weight and the doctor will decide the correct dose.

To treat ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection and to prevent their return: children over 4 years of age can take omeprazole. The dose for children is based on the child's weight, so your doctor will decide the correct dose. Your doctor will also prescribe two antibiotics: amoxicillin and clarithromycin.

It is recommended to take the capsules in the morning. The capsules can be taken with or without food. Swallow the capsules whole with half a glass of water. The capsules must not be chewed or crushed.

Contraindications

If you are allergic to omeprazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine, if you are allergic to medicines containing other proton pump inhibitors (e.g. pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole), if you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used to treat viral infections). HIV).
