Pharmacological properties

Hylak forte drops are a preparation that normalizes the intestinal flora, pH and water-electrolyte balance in the intestinal lumen and stimulates the synthesis of epithelial cells of the intestinal wall.

The natural physiological microflora of the intestine can be significantly impaired due to such external influences as antibiotic therapy, radiation, gastric surgery (Billroth II operation), as well as as a result of malnutrition, which can sometimes stimulate excessive reproduction of pathogenic microbes. This results in a feeling of heaviness, flatulence, diarrhea or constipation.

The numerous metabolic products of physiological intestinal microorganisms (producers of lactic acid, as well as gram-positive and gram-negative symbionts of the small and large intestines) introduced into the composition of Hylak forte drops help to preserve the physiological function of the intestinal mucosa and restore its normal flora.

Due to the fact that Hylak Forte drops contain biosynthetic lactic acid and its buffer salts, the acidity in the intestine is normalized.

The volatile fatty acids contained in the Hylak forte preparation make it possible not only to prevent, but also to restore the disturbed intestinal environment in case of infectious gastrointestinal diseases, they also promote the absorption of water and electrolytes (sodium, chlorine).

Hylak forte is not absorbed into the bloodstream, it is excreted through the gastrointestinal tract.

Indications

digestive disorders such as flatulence, diarrhea, constipation; during and after therapy with antibiotics and sulfa preparations, as well as radiotherapy; violations of hepatic metabolism; gastrointestinal disorders due to low acidity; chronic atrophic gastroenteritis ("senile intestine"); gastrointestinal disturbances associated with climate change (in particular, a trip to warm countries); symptoms associated with chronic intestinal intoxication such as nausea, circulatory disorders, a tendency to fatigue, and the like.

The use of this preparation is only a supportive measure. It can only be used in combination with other effective therapeutic measures. In particular, if the patient has diarrhea, the use of the preparation Hylak forte does not replace the therapy for replenishing fluid loss and other measures, such as temporary abstinence from eating solid foods (tea break).

Application

Hylak forte is taken orally before or during meals, diluted in a small amount of liquid (with the exception of milk).

Hylak forte in the first few days of illness is prescribed 3 times a day:

adults and children over the age of 12 - 40-60 drops per appointment;

children aged 2–12 years - 20–40 drops per appointment.

After improving the condition, the daily dose can be halved.

Patients with increased acidity of gastric juice and heartburn, often associated with this condition, the daily dose should be divided into at least three doses.

The duration of use is determined individually.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Acute manifestations of diarrhea, accompanied by increased body temperature and the presence of blood in the stool.

Side effects

By frequency, side effects are distributed as follows: rarely (from? 1/10 000 to 1/1000); very rare (1/10 000).

From the immune system: rarely - hypersensitivity reactions in the form of skin reactions and mucosal reactions.

From the gastrointestinal tract: very rarely - slight discomfort in the abdominal cavity.

Special instructions

Hylak forte cannot be used without preliminary dilution (it can be diluted with water, tea, orange juice). 1 ml of the preparation Hylak forte contains 20 drops.

You should consult your doctor if you experience severe symptoms, such as acute diarrhea with high body temperature or blood in the stool, if the diarrhea persists for more than two days, or if other persistent or unexplained gastrointestinal symptoms appear.

In the event of diarrhea, especially in children and the elderly, it is imperative to replenish the loss of fluid and electrolytes during treatment.

The preparation Hylak forte should be prescribed with caution to patients with increased acidity of gastric juice in the presence of reflux esophagitis. The daily dose in these patients should not exceed 6 ml, which should be taken in at least three doses.

Hylak forte contains lactose. Therefore, it is not recommended to prescribe to patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or impaired absorption of glucose-galactose.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. There is insufficient epidemiological data to establish the potential risk of using the preparation during pregnancy and lactation. Before using Hylak forte during pregnancy and lactation, the benefit / risk ratio should be assessed.

Children. Not prescribed for children under 2 years of age.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. The preparation does not affect the reaction rate when driving or operating other mechanisms.

Interactions

Simultaneous use with antacids should be avoided.

The preparation has a pH value that corresponds to an acidic environment, therefore it can cause milk coagulation. Therefore, Hylak forte should not be taken with milk.

Overdose

No cases of overdose were noted.
