Levosetil is used in the symptomatic treatment of allergic rhinitis (including perennial allergic rhinitis) and urticaria.

Active ingredient: levocetirizine.

1 coated tablet contains levocetirizine dihydrochloride 5 mg.

Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose silicon dioxide colloidal magnesium stearate.

Hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, hydroxyzine, to any other piperazine derivatives or other components of the preparation.

Severe chronic renal failure (creatinine clearance <10 ml / min).

Rare hereditary diseases of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or impaired absorption of glucose and galactose.

The medicinal product is intended for oral administration. The tablet must be swallowed whole with a small amount of water, regardless of the meal. It is recommended to use a daily dose in 1 reception.

Adults and children over 12 years old

the recommended daily dose is 5 mg (1 tablet) once a day.

The preparation  should be used with caution in patients with chronic renal failure (dosage adjustment is required) and in elderly patients with renal failure (glomerular filtration may decrease).

The preparation is contraindicated for use during pregnancy.

The preparation in the form of tablets should not be used in children under 6 years of age, since this dosage form does not allow the necessary adjustment of the dosage regimen. For this category of patients, it is recommended to prescribe levocetirizine in a dosage form suitable for use in pediatrics.

Comparative clinical studies have not revealed any evidence that levocetirizine at the recommended dose impairs mental alertness, reactivity or ability to drive vehicles.

However, some patients may experience drowsiness, fatigue, and asthenia during levocetirizine treatment. Therefore, patients who intend to drive vehicles or other mechanisms should take into account their reaction to the preparation.

overdose in adults may include drowsiness. Children may initially be agitated and irritable, followed by drowsiness.

There is no specific antidote to levocetirizine. In case of symptoms of an overdose, symptomatic and supportive therapy is recommended. The need for gastric lavage shortly after preparation administration may be considered. Hemodialysis is not effective for removing levocetirizine from the body.

It was reported about such adverse reactions that occurred during clinical trials of levocetirizine, at least 1% of patients (often (≥ 1/100, <1/10)) aged 12 to 71 years:

Asthenia and abdominal pain have also been reported infrequently (≥ 1/1000, <1/100).

The study of the interaction of levocetirizine (including with inducers of CYP3A4) has not been conducted. A study of the interaction of cetirizine (a racemate compound) showed that simultaneous use with antipyrine, azithromycin, cimetidine, diazepam, erythromycin, glipizide, ketoconazole or pseudoephedrine does not have clinically significant adverse effects.
