Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamic parameters. Bifidobacteria - a component of normal human intestinal microbiota - are among the first to colonize the digestive tract of the newborn, are the dominant intestinal bacteria in breastfed babies, and are necessary for the development of a child at an early age.

Protective and therapeutic effect of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis contained in Linex®baby is carried out in several ways: this strain restricts the growth of pathogens in the gastrointestinal tract by preventing their adhesion to the intestinal wall and further colonization, as well as by competitive antagonism for food substrates, creating low pH values ​​in the intestinal lumen due to the production of acids, the production of hydrogen peroxide and bacteriocins with antimicrobial properties. In addition, Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis activates the immune response.

Disorder of the physiological balance of the intestinal microbiota due to the influence of pathogens of a viral or bacterial nature, infections of the digestive tract, antibiotic and chemotherapy, a delay in the layout of the normal composition of the intestinal microbiota during the neonatal period causes dyspeptic disorders - the occurrence of increased gas production in the intestine, as well as the development of defecation disorders dermatitis.

Through the systematic use of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis effectively reduces the severity and frequency of manifestations of gastrointestinal disorders (diarrhea in the first place) resulting from intestinal dysbiosis; conditions are created for normal intestinal activity. Linex® baby is used to prevent either as part of a comprehensive treatment of atopic dermatitis, or to normalize the activity of the intestinal immune system.

Pharmacokinetic parameters. After the introduction of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis have a local effect in the digestive tract. The study of pharmacokinetic parameters was not carried out, since absorption into the systemic circulation does not occur. The resistance of the strain to the effects of gastric juice and bile provides a high survival rate for Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis when passing through the upper gastrointestinal tract. Representatives of this strain form a stable adhesion to intestinal mucus and, due to peristaltic contractions and the act of defecation, are slowly excreted from the body.

Indications

In children from the 1st day of life and 12 years old:

• to normalize and maintain the activity and balance of the intestinal microbiota;
• to prevent and as a supportive agent in case of flatulence, diarrhea or other infectious pathology of the digestive tract of viral or bacterial etiology (including those caused by rotavirus);
• against the background of antimicrobial therapy.

Application

Children - 1 packet with meals. frequency of admission: at the age from the 1st day of life and 2 years - 1 time per day; at the age of 2-12 years - 1-2 times a day.

Mix the contents of the bag with baby food or liquid (milk, juice, water).

Do not take Linex® baby with drinks heated to high temperatures.

The course of application of Linex® baby can continue until the corresponding manifestations of the disease disappear.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active pharmaceutical ingredient or maltodextrin.

In rare episodes, hypersensitivity reactions are possible - itching, rashes.

In the case of fever above 38 ° C, the duration of diarrhea for more than 2 days, severe diarrhea with exsicosis and a decrease in body weight, the appearance of mucus or blood in the stool, intense abdominal pain, if the child has a chronic pathology, such as cardiovascular diseases or diabetes mellitus, immunodeficiency conditions (for example, HIV infection) before using the preparation, you should consult a doctor for advice.

In children under 6 years of age, diarrhea therapy should be under medical supervision.

In the treatment of diarrhea, an adequate correction of the water-electrolyte balance is also required.

Due to the lack of relevant studies, there is no information on the effect on the reaction rate when driving or using other mechanisms.
