Pharmacodynamics. Lipster is an antiviral preparation with high in vitro activity against herpes simplex virus type II and II. the toxic effect on the cells of the host organism is minimal. getting into cells infected with the herpes virus, acyclovir is phosphorylated to form an active compound - acyclovir triphosphate. the first step in this process depends on the presence of virus-coded thymidine kinase. Acyclovir triphosphate acts as an inhibitor and substrate for viral DNA polymerase, preventing further viral DNA synthesis without affecting normal cellular processes.

Pharmacokinetics. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown a minimum level of systemic absorption of acyclovir after repeated topical application of the cream.

Treatment of infections of the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus (herpes labialis).

The preparation is intended for external use.

Adults and children over 12 years of age: Apply cream 5 times a day at approximately 4 hour intervals, excluding at night. It is important to start treatment as soon as possible at the onset of infection, preferably in the prodromal period or at the erythema stage. You can start treatment in the later stages - papules or bladder.

The treatment lasts at least 4 days. If healing does not occur, treatment can be continued for up to 10 days. If the symptoms of the disease do not disappear after 10 days of treatment, the patient should consult a doctor. Hands should be washed before and after applying the cream and avoiding excessive rubbing or touching the affected areas with a towel to prevent exacerbation or transmission of infection.

Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, valacyclovir, propylene glycol or other components of the cream.

In some patients, when using the cream, a temporary, fast-passing sharp or burning pain may appear. approximately 5% of patients experienced slight drying and flaking of the skin. a small proportion of patients had erythema (redness) and itching. very rare cases of contact dermatitis have been reported after applying the cream. in susceptibility tests, these cases were more likely to be associated with the components of the cream base than with acyclovir. there are isolated reports of immediate hypersensitivity reactions, including angioedema, due to topical application of acyclovir.

This product contains propylene glycol, which may irritate the skin.

The preparation contains cetostearyl alcohol, which can cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis).

The cream should only be used to treat cold sores on the lips and face. it is not recommended to apply the cream to the mucous membrane of the mouth, eyes and to use it for the treatment of genital herpes. accidental contact of the cream with eyes should be avoided.

Persons with particularly severe and recurrent manifestations of Herpes labialis require medical advice. Patients with herpes should be warned about contact transmission of the virus to other people, especially if there are open lesions (for example, washing hands before and after applying the cream). Not recommended for people with immunodeficiency. Such patients require medical advice regarding the treatment of any infection.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. In pregnant and breastfeeding women, the preparation is recommended to be used only when the benefit, in the opinion of the doctor, outweighs the risk.

Children. There is insufficient data on the safety of the preparation in children under 12 years of age, therefore it is recommended to use it in children from 12 years of age.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. No data.

The preparation should not be prescribed together with local cationic antiseptics.

With oral or topical application of the entire tube of cream, no adverse effects have been identified due to the minimal systemic effect. if an overdose is suspected, seek medical attention.
