Product description

Medoclav is an antibacterial agent for systemic use.

Storage

active substances: amoxicillin, clavulanic acid;

5 ml of suspension contain amoxicillin (in the form of amoxicillin trihydrate) 400 mg and clavulanic acid (in the form of potassium clavulanate) 57 mg;

excipients: xanthan gum (E 415), hypromellose 2910 (E 5), sodium saccharin (E 954), colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, silicon dioxide (E 551), strawberry flavoring, peach flavoring, lemon flavoring, succinic acid (E 363 ).

Contraindication

Hypersensitivity to any components of the preparation, to any antibacterial agents of the penicillin group.

History of severe hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis) associated with the use of other beta-lactam agents (including cephalosporins, carbapenems, or monobactams).

History of jaundice or liver dysfunction associated with amoxicillin/clavulanate.

Application method

Children with body weight ≥ 40 kg: other forms of the preparation should be used.

Children with body weight <40 kg

Recommended doses:

from 25 mg/3.6 mg/kg/day to 45 mg/6.4 mg/kg/day, divided into two doses;

for the treatment of certain infections (such as otitis media, sinusitis and lower respiratory tract infections) in children aged 2 years and older, a dose of up to 70 mg/10 mg/kg/day, divided into two doses, can be used.

Features of application

Prior hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins, cephalosporins, or other beta-lactam preparations should be carefully investigated prior to initiation of amoxicillin/clavulanic acid therapy.

The use of the preparation during pregnancy should be avoided, except when the doctor considers it necessary.

Children

Used for children aged 2 months and older. Children with a body weight of more than 40 kg are prescribed the preparation in a different dosage form.

Drivers

Studies on the ability of the preparation to influence the speed of reaction when driving vehicles and working with other mechanisms were not conducted. However, undesirable effects (such as allergic reactions, dizziness, convulsions) may occur, which may affect the ability to drive a car and work with other mechanisms.

Overdose

Symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders and fluid and electrolyte imbalance may be observed. Crystalluria associated with amoxicillin has been observed, leading to renal failure in some cases.

Side effects

Infections and infestations: candidiasis of the skin and mucous membranes, overgrowth of microorganisms insensitive to the preparation.

From the hematopoietic and lymphatic system: reversible leukopenia (including neutropenia) and thrombocytopenia, reversible agranulocytosis and hemolytic anemia; increase in bleeding time and prothrombin index.

From the side of the immune system: angioedema, anaphylaxis, a syndrome similar to serum sickness, allergic vasculitis.

Storage conditions

Store at a temperature no higher than 25 °C in the original package to protect from light and moisture, in a place inaccessible to children. Store the prepared suspension in a refrigerator at a temperature of 2 to 8 °C for 7 days.
