Product description

Oral suspension "Mirofuril" is used for acute infectious diarrhea.

Compound

The active ingredient is nifuroxazide (5 ml of the suspension contains 200 mg of nifuroxazide).

Excipients: sucrose, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E 218), ethanol 96%, carbomer, anhydrous citric acid, banana flavor, sodium hydroxide, purified water.

Contraindications

• hypersensitivity to nifuroxazide, nitrofuran derivatives and other components of the drug;
• fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrase and isomaltase deficiency;
• pregnancy;
• age up to 2 years (for this dosage form).

Mode of application

Take orally, with or without food. For dosing, use a 10 ml measuring cup. The suspension should be shaken before use. The maximum daily dose of nifuroxazide is 800 mg.

Recommended dosage:

children aged 2 to 6 years - 200 mg (5 ml) 3 times a day (interval between doses - 8 hours);

children aged 6 to 18 years - 200 mg (5 ml) 3-4 times a day (the interval between doses is 6-8 hours);

adults - 200 mg (5 ml) 4 times a day (interval between doses - 6 hours).

The duration of the course of treatment is 5-7 days, but no more than 7 days. If there is no improvement during the first 3 days of taking, you should consult a doctor. Use the drug only according to the route of administration and in the doses indicated in the instructions. Before using the medicinal product, you should consult your doctor.

In animal studies, no teratogenic effect was found. However, as a precautionary measure, taking nifuroxazide during pregnancy is contraindicated. During lactation, it is possible to continue breastfeeding in the case of a short course of treatment after consulting a doctor.

Drivers

The effect of the drug on the ability to drive vehicles or work with other mechanisms has not been studied, however, it should be noted that this drug contains ethanol.

Overdose

Overdose symptoms are not described. In case of accidental excess of the dose, gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment are recommended.

Side effects

Allergic reactions (itching, rash, urticaria, Quincke's edema, anaphylactic shock). The occurrence of an allergic reaction requires discontinuation of the drug. In the future, the patient should avoid taking nifuroxazide and other nitrofuran derivatives. On the part of the hematopoietic and lymphatic system, one case of neutropenia was reported.

Temporary abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and increased diarrhea are possible.
