Product description
No-Spa is an antispasmodic preparation that reduces pain (painful spasms) in the abdominal organs and pelvis minor, i.e. in the digestive tract (stomach and intestines), bile ducts and urinary tract, and in women also in the genital tract.
Action and properties
NO-SPA (drotaverine) is effective in the treatment of smooth muscle spasms, both of neurogenic and muscular origin. Spasmolytic (spasmodic) effect on smooth muscles in the abdominal cavity, as a result of inhibition of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4).
- Absorbs quickly and completely,
- hit the source of pain - spasm - eliminating abdominal pain,
- without serious adverse effects on the circulatory system,
- does not interact with other preparations (exception: levodopa),
- small, easy-to-swallow tablet.
Indications
No-spa is indicated in the following ailments:
- spasms of smooth muscles associated with biliary tract diseases: cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, pericholecystitis, cholangitis, inflammation of the ampulla of Vater,
- spasms of smooth muscles of the urinary tract: nephrolithiasis, ureteral stones, pyelitis, cystitis, painful urinary urgency.
As a supportive treatment, it can be used safely and with the desired effect:
- in spasms of smooth muscles of the digestive tract, such as: gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastritis, enteritis, colitis, spasms of the gastric cardia and pylorus, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), spastic constipation and intestinal bloating, pancreatitis,
- in gynecological diseases (e.g. when painful menstruation occurs).
Composition
Each tablet contains 40 mg of drotaverine hydrochloride (Drotaverini hydrochloridum). Excipients: magnesium stearate, talc, povidone, corn starch, lactose monohydrate.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this patient information leaflet or as directed by your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. If you have any questions, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
Adults: Daily dose: 120 to 240 mg, in 2 to 3 divided doses.
Children: Clinical studies have not been conducted in children.
Caution should be exercised when using No-Spa in children aged 6 years and over.
If it is necessary to use No-Spa in children:
- Daily dose for children aged 6 to 12 years: is 80 mg, in 2 divided doses;
- daily dose for children over 12 years of age: 160 mg, in 2 to 4 divided doses.
If after 10 days there is no improvement or the patient feels worse, contact your doctor.
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
Warnings and precautions
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the medicine.
NO-SPA 40 mg and pregnancy and breastfeeding
If the patient is pregnant or breastfeeding, thinks she may be pregnant or is planning to have a baby, she should consult a doctor before using this medicine. Drotaverine crosses the placenta. Do not use the medicine during labor. It is not recommended to use this medicine during breastfeeding.
Storage
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box or blister.
The expiry date refers to the last day of the given month.
Store at a temperature below 25°C.
Protect from light.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These actions will help protect the environment.
