Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics. Noxprey is an α-adrenergic agonist, an imidazoline derivative, belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictor agents. It narrows blood vessels at the site of application, reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and upper respiratory tract, and reduces nasal discharge. Restores nasal breathing. elimination of edema of the nasal mucosa helps to restore aeration of the paranasal sinuses, middle ear cavity, which prevents the development of bacterial complications. Oxymetazoline has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and antioxidant effects. Thanks to this combined mechanism of action, a quick and effective elimination of the symptoms of acute rhinitis (nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, sneezing, poor health) was observed. with local nasal application in therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the nasal mucosa, does not cause hyperemia. The essential oils that make up the preparation help to eliminate the sensation of irritation of the nasal mucosa, protect it from excessive drying.

Indications

Noxprey Kid is intended for use in the nose. For infants under 4 weeks of age, the preparation is administered 1 drop in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day. Children aged 5 weeks to 1 year are prescribed 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days.

Children. Knoxprey Kid is used in children under 1 year of age.

Application

Noxprey Children's. Children aged 1 to 6 years - 1 injection into each nasal passage 2-3 times a day. Doses higher than recommended should only be used under medical supervision. The preparation should be used for no more than 5-7 days. The preparation can only be used again after a few days.

Side effects

From the respiratory system: discomfort in the nose, burning or dryness of the nasal mucosa, a feeling of severe nasal congestion (reactive hyperemia), sneezing, epistaxis, apnea in newborns and young children, especially in case of overdose.

From the nervous system: headache, drowsiness, fatigue, lethargy, insomnia, anxiety, convulsions, hallucinations, dizziness, nausea, vomiting.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: local nasal use of the preparation can cause systemic effects (a feeling of interruptions in the work of the heart, tachycardia, hypertension).

From the immune system: allergic reactions may occur, including rash, itching, angioedema.

Special instructions

Insert the tip of the bottle nozzle into each nasal passage and press sharply 1 time on the bottle. when injecting air, suck in through the nose. you should not tilt your head back and turn the bottle over when injecting the preparation  (the bottle is held strictly vertically). to prevent the spread of infection, you should not use one bottle for several people.

Long-term use and preparation overdose should be avoided. Long-term use of a nasal decongestant may weaken the effect of the preparation. Abuse of this preparation can cause atrophic rhinitis, mucosal atrophy, and reactive hyperemia with rhinitis medicamentosa. After using the preparation, special observation of patients with chronic rhinitis is necessary and in case of elimination of edema before diagnostic manipulations. Doses higher than recommended should be used only under medical supervision. The duration of continuous use of the preparation should not exceed 7 days.

Application during pregnancy or lactation. The use of the preparation is possible with extreme caution if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus / child. Exceeding the recommended dose is not allowed.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. After prolonged use of the preparation in doses exceeding the recommended ones, a general effect on the cardiovascular system cannot be ruled out. In such cases, the ability to drive a vehicle may decrease.

Interactions

The preparation should not be used concurrently with other local vasoconstrictor agents and agents for intranasal use (the incidence of adverse reactions increases), with MAO inhibitors and other preparations that increase blood pressure due to the risk of arterial hypertension.

Overdose

With a significant overdose or with accidental ingestion, the following symptoms may occur: mydriasis or miosis, nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, pallor, increased sweating, hyperthermia, spasms, tachycardia, a feeling of interruptions in the work of the heart, arrhythmia, cardiovascular failure, ag, respiratory disorders, pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest, hyposmia, agitation, convulsions, mental disorders. in addition, it is possible to suppress the functions of the central nervous system, accompanied by drowsiness, a decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, arterial hypotension, apnea and the possible development of coma.

Therapeutic measures in case of overdose: gastric lavage, intake of activated carbon, mechanical ventilation if necessary. In the case of arterial hypertension, the use of vasodilators (phentolamine, sodium nitroprusside) is required. Do not use vasopressor agents. If necessary, with agitation, prescribe benzodiazepines, anticonvulsant therapy with benzodiazepines and / or barbiturates.
