Composition

active ingredient: paroxetine hydrochloride hemihydrate;
1 tablet contains paroxetine hydrochloride hemihydrate equivalent to paroxetine 20 mg
Excipients: calcium hydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium starch (type A), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, Opadry II White coating (polyethylene glycol, polyvinyl alcohol, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171)).

Contraindications.

Hypersensitivity to paroxetine or other components of the preparation.
The preparation Paroxin should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors (MAO), including linezolid, an antibiotic that is a reverse non-selective MAO inhibitor, and with methylthioninium chloride (methylene blue), and earlier than 2 weeks after stopping treatment with MAO inhibitors.
Similarly, MAO inhibitors should not be used earlier than 2 weeks after stopping treatment with paroxetine (see Section “Interaction with other preparations and other types of interactions”).
The preparation should not be used in combination with thioridazine because, like other preparations that inhibit the liver enzyme CYP450 2D6, paroxetine can increase the level of thioridazine (see Section "Interaction with other preparations and other types of interactions"). Thioridazine may cause QT prolongation with associated severe ventricular arrhythmias (eg, torsades de pointes) and sudden death. The preparation Paroxin should not be prescribed in combination with pimozide (see Section “Interaction with other preparations and other types of interactions”).

Method of administration and dose.

General recommendations.
The preparation Paroxin should be taken orally, it is recommended to take it once a day, in the morning, with meals. The tablet should be swallowed without chewing.
As with all other antidepressants, the dose must be carefully selected individually during the first 2-3 weeks of treatment, and then adjusted depending on the clinical manifestations.
The course of treatment should be long enough to ensure relief of symptoms. This period can last several months when treating depression, and even longer when treating obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders. As with other preparations for the treatment of mental disorders, sudden withdrawal of the preparation should be avoided.
Major depressive disorder. The recommended dose is 20 mg per day. Some patients may require an increase in dose. This should be done gradually, increasing the dose by 10 * mg (maximum up to 50 * mg per day) depending on the clinical effectiveness of the treatment.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder. The recommended dose is 40 mg per day. Treatment should begin with a dose of 20 mg and gradually increase the dosage by 10 * mg weekly. If necessary, the dose can be increased to a maximum of 60 mg.
Panic disorder. The recommended dose is 40 mg per day. Treatment should begin with a dose of 10 * mg per day, and then increase it weekly by 10 * mg, depending on the clinical effect. In some patients, improvement is observed only when using a maximum dose of 60 mg per day.
To reduce the risk of a possible increase in the symptoms of panic disorder, which is often observed at the beginning of treatment for this disease, it is recommended to begin treatment with a low dose of the preparation.
Social anxiety disorders/social phobias. The recommended dose is 20 mg per day. For some patients, the dose can be gradually increased by 10 * mg per day - depending on the clinical effect of treatment, up to 50 * mg per day. The interval between increasing doses should be at least 1 week.
Generalized anxiety disorder. The recommended dose is 20 mg per day. For some patients with insufficient effectiveness when taking 20 mg, the dose can be gradually increased by 10 * mg per day depending on the clinical effect, up to 50 * mg per day.
Post-traumatic stress disorder. The recommended dose is 20 mg per day. For some patients with insufficient effectiveness when taking 20 mg, the dose can be gradually increased by 10 * mg per day depending on the clinical effect, up to 50 * mg per day.
