Powercort is a highly active topical glucocorticosteroid, which is prescribed to the elderly and children over 1 year of age only for the short-term treatment of relatively more resistant inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of steroids, sensitive dermatoses that are insensitive to less active corticosteroids.

Such diseases are:

1 g of cream contains clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg;

excipients: mineral oil, white soft paraffin, non-ionic emulsified wax, methylparaben (E 218), propylparaben (E 216), butylhydroxytoluene (E 321), propylene glycol, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium phosphate anhydrous, purified water.

The cream is especially suitable for the treatment of moist and weeping skin areas.

Gently apply the cream in a thin layer, covering all affected areas of the skin, 1 or 2 times a day until an improvement in clinical manifestations appears (subject to a good response to treatment, improvement is achieved in a few days), then reduce the frequency of use or change the preparation  to a less powerful one. After each application of the cream, wait a while until it is completely absorbed before applying the emollient. In case of worsening or no improvement in clinical manifestations within 2-4 weeks, the diagnosis and treatment should be reconsidered.

Repeated short courses of treatment with Powercort can be used to control exacerbations. Treatment should not last more than 4 weeks. If permanent long-term treatment is needed, less powerful preparations should be used.

The maximum weekly dose should not exceed 50 g.

The preparation should not be used to treat patients with a history of local hypersensitivity reactions to corticosteroids or any of the excipients. Local hypersensitivity reactions may resemble the symptoms of the disease being treated.

Compared to adults, children may absorb proportionately more corticosteroids and are therefore more susceptible to systemic side effects. This is due to the fact that children have an underdeveloped skin barrier and a larger skin surface relative to body weight compared to adults.

Pregnant women should use Clobetasol only if the expected benefit to the mother is greater than the risk to the fetus.

The preparation is contraindicated for the treatment of dermatoses in children under the age of 1 year, including dermatitis and diaper rash.

Given the profile of adverse reactions, the effect on the reaction rate when driving motor transport or operating other mechanisms is not expected.

When used normally, Powercourt may be absorbed in sufficient amounts to cause a systemic effect. The likelihood of an acute overdose is very low, however, in the event of a chronic overdose or misuse, signs of hypercortisolism may occur.

Infections and infestations: opportunistic infections.

From the immune system: local hypersensitivity.

From the endocrine system: depression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system: Cushingoid signs (for example, moon-shaped face, central obesity), delayed weight gain / height in children, osteoporosis, glaucoma, hyperglycemia / glucosuria, cataracts, arterial hypertension, weight gain /obesity, decreased endogenous cortisol levels, alopecia, brittle hair.

Store in original packaging at temperatures not exceeding 25°C. Do not freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.
