Pharmacological properties

Prostaplant inhibits the enzymes 5-α-reductase and aromatase. 5-α-reductase catalyzes the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone; aromatase promotes the conversion of testosterone to 17-β-estradiol. in the pathogenesis of prostatic hyperplasia, the main role is attributed to dihydrotestosterone and estrogens. sabal palm fruit extract inhibits the growth of prostate tissues stimulated by dihydrotestosterone and estradiol. the preparation reduces the severity of symptoms caused by an enlarged prostate gland, but does not eliminate its enlargement.

In experiments on animals, it was also found that the extract from the fruit of the sabal palm tree has an anti-exudative and anti-edema effect.

Indications

Violations of urination in benign prostatic hyperplasia of I and II stages (according to Alken).

Application

Adults are prescribed 1 capsule 1 time per day. the capsules are swallowed without chewing with a little water. the maximum daily dose is 320 mg.

The duration of admission is determined by the doctor individually.

If the manifestations of the symptoms of the disease do not decrease or, conversely, increase, you should consult a doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to sabal palm fruit extract or any of the components of the preparation.

Side effects

• On the part of the digestive tract: in isolated cases, abdominal pain, nausea, discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting are possible;
• from the immune system: allergic or hypersensitivity reactions, including skin edema, skin rash;
• from the nervous system: headache may occur.
• If any adverse reactions occur, you should stop taking the preparation and consult a doctor.

Special instructions

The preparation is used as a symptomatic agent, and not as a treatment for prostatic hyperplasia. therefore, it is recommended to consult a doctor regarding the need for a systemic follow-up examination, especially in the presence of blood in the urine or in case of acute urinary retention. Prostaplant should not be used for benign prostatic hyperplasia in the stage of decompensation (stage III according to Alken).

Application during pregnancy or lactation. The preparation is not used in women.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving or working with other mechanisms. Does not affect.

Children. The preparation is not used in children.

Interactions

Not marked. in rare cases, interactions with warfarin have been reported. an increase in the indicator of the international normalized ratio (mno).

Overdose

No cases of overdose have been reported.
