Powder for oral solution Rehydron Optim is prescribed for the following indications:

• Restoration of water-electrolyte balance, correction of acidosis in the case of acute diarrhea (including cholera), diarrhea with mild or moderate dehydration, with thermal lesions associated with disorders of water-electrolyte metabolism.
• For preventive purposes: with heat and physical exertion, leading to intense sweating.

Structure

Active ingredients:

• 1 package contains: potassium chloride 0.75 g; sodium chloride 1.3 g; sodium citrate 1.45 g; anhydrous glucose 6.75 g;
• Excipients: potassium acesulfame (E 950), lemon flavor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to active substances or to any other component of the preparation, severe dehydration, loss of consciousness, hemodynamic shock, intestinal obstruction, rampant vomiting, ileus.

Mode of application

Solution preparation: Dissolve the powder of 1 sachet in 0.5 l of boiled water cooled to room temperature. The solution is taken orally or administered under the supervision of a doctor through a nasogastric tube.

The preparation during pregnancy or lactation is approved for use in recommended doses. Breastfeeding can be continued as long as necessary, even during oral rehydration, or it can be continued immediately after rehydration.

Overdose

In patients with reduced renal function, hypernatremia and hyperkalemia may occur.

With the introduction of too much or a very concentrated solution of the preparation Regidron Optim, hypernatremia may occur. In patients with impaired renal function, metabolic alkalosis may occur. Symptoms of hypernatremia include weakness, neuromuscular agitation, drowsiness, confusion, coma, and sometimes even respiratory arrest. Metabolic alkalosis can manifest as decreased ventilation, neuromuscular arousal, and tetanic seizures.

In case of a severe overdose with pronounced consequences of the administration of the preparation Regidron Optim, it should be discontinued. A doctor's consultation is required. Correction of electrolyte and fluid balance should be carried out on the basis of laboratory data.

Side effects

If the recommended doses are observed, the development of adverse reactions is unlikely.

Potentially, the development of allergic reactions is possible.

In patients with normal renal function, the risk of hypernatremia or overhydration when using the preparation Regidron Optim is low. Vomiting may occur, which indicates too rapid administration of the preparation.

Interaction

There is no information on the interaction of the preparation Regidron Optim with other preparations.
