Product description 

• early treatment of illness caused by influenza A viruses in adults and children over 10 years of age;
• prevention of type A influenza during an epidemic in adults and children over 10 years of age.

Compound

1 tablet contains rimantadine hydrochloride (active ingredient) 50 mg.

Excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, povidone, anhydrous colloidal silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to rimantadine, derivatives of the adamantane group or to excipients of the preparation.
• Acute and chronic diseases of the liver and kidneys.
• thyrotoxicosis.

Mode of application

Tablets should be taken orally after meals with water.

The use of the preparation should be started as early as possible, immediately after the first symptoms of influenza appear. The therapeutic effect is more pronounced if the preparation is started within the first 48 hours after the onset of the first flu symptoms.

Treatment for influenza: adults and children over 10 years old: 100 mg (2 tablets) 2 times a day.

Before using the preparation in children, be sure to consult a doctor.

Elderly patients (over 65 years old) - 100 mg (2 tablets) 1 time per day.

The duration of the course of treatment is 5 days.

Influenza prevention: adults and children over 10 years old, 100 mg (2 tablets) 2 times a day.

Elderly patients or those with a high risk of complications - 100 mg (2 tablets) 1 time per day. The preparation should be started at the beginning of an influenza epidemic and used during the epidemic, but not more than 2 weeks.

Overdose

There is information regarding cases of poisoning with a chemical analogue - amantadine.

Symptoms: agitation, hallucinations, heart rhythm disturbance, fever, chills, sweating, arrhythmia, hypoesthesia, increased tearing, dysphagia, constipation, increased urination, stomatitis, eye pain.

Treatment: preparation withdrawal, gastric lavage, intravenous administration of physostigmine, children and adults - an initial dose of 0.5 mg, if necessary, repeat the administration, but not more than 2 mg per hour. Rimantadine and amantadine are not excreted by hemodialysis.

Adverse reactions

Usually, side effects disappear after the end of the preparation.

From the senses: change / loss of taste, parosmia.

On the part of the hearing and vestibular apparatus: tinnitus / ringing in the ears.

From the respiratory system, chest organs and mediastinum: cough, dyspnea (shortness of breath), bronchospasm.

From the gastrointestinal tract: dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhea, anorexia.

From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, tremor, ataxia (impaired coordination of movements), hyperkinesis (spontaneous movements), convulsions, insomnia, excessive fatigue, drowsiness, impaired concentration, confusion, increased excitability, irritability, anxiety, depression, euphoria, hallucinations.

From the side of the cardiovascular system: palpitations, tachycardia, arterial hypertension, cerebrovascular disorders, heart failure, edema, cardiac conduction disorders (blockade), syncope, in elderly patients with arterial hypertension, the risk of hemorrhagic stroke increases.

From the immune system: urticaria.

From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: skin rash, itching, skin pallor.

Others: galactorrhea, exacerbation of concomitant chronic diseases, asthenia (weakness).
