Pharmacological properties

Combined herbal preparation. the constituents of the urolesan preparation reduce inflammation in the urinary tract and kidneys, promote increased blood circulation in the kidneys and liver, exhibit a diuretic, antibacterial, choleretic effect, form a protective colloid in the urine and normalize the tone of the smooth muscles of the upper urinary tract and gallbladder.

Urolesan increases the excretion of urea and chlorides, promotes the elimination of small stones and sand from the bladder and kidneys.

The preparation is well absorbed, its action begins in 20-30 minutes and lasts 4-5 hours. The maximum effect occurs in 1-2 hours. It is excreted through the digestive tract and kidneys.

Indications

Acute and chronic infections of the urinary tract and kidneys (cystitis and pyelonephritis); urolithiasis and uric acid diathesis (prevention of calculus formation after their removal); chronic cholecystitis (including calculous), biliary dyskinesia, cholelithiasis.

Application

Urolesan oral drops. the preparation is taken orally before meals. recommended dose for adults: 8-10 drops (for sugar, for patients with diabetes mellitus - for bread) 3 times a day. with renal and hepatic colic, a single dose is 15–20 drops. the duration of admission is 5-7 days, in chronic conditions - 7 days-1 month.

Recommended dose for children aged 7-14 years: 5-6 drops (for sugar, for patients with diabetes mellitus - for bread) 3 times a day.

A single dose, frequency and duration of treatment is determined individually by the doctor.

Urolesan syrup. The preparation is taken orally before meals. Recommended doses for adults: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of syrup 3 times a day. In acute conditions (including renal and hepatic colic), the duration of the course of therapy is 5-7 days, in chronic conditions - from 7 days to 1 month. In the event of renal and hepatic colic, a single dose can be increased once to 2 teaspoons (10 ml), after which the next dose can be returned to the usual single dose (5 ml).

Recommended doses for children: at the age of 2-7 years - 2-4 ml 3 times a day; 7-14 years old - 4-5 ml 3 times a day. Dosing is carried out using a dosing syringe.

Urolesan capsules. The preparation is taken orally before meals. Recommended doses for adults and children over the age of 14: 1 capsule 3 times a day. In acute conditions (including renal and hepatic colic), the duration of the course of therapy is 5-7 days, in chronic conditions - from 7 days to 1 month. In the event of renal and hepatic colic, a single dose can be increased once to 2 capsules, then in subsequent doses return to the usual single dose (1 capsule).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, gastritis (except for gastritis with secretory insufficiency), gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer; children with a history of seizures (febrile or not).

Side effects

Urolesan is usually well tolerated. in some cases, when using the preparation, it is possible:

• from the digestive tract: dyspeptic symptoms (including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain);
• from the immune system: allergic reactions, including itching, facial redness, skin rashes, urticaria, angioedema (sore throat, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, tongue), anaphylactic shock;
• from the side of the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system: dizziness, general weakness, headache, ataxia, muscle tremor;
• on the part of the cardiovascular system: hypertension, arterial hypotension, bradycardia, pain in the region of the heart.

Special instructions

Do not use the preparation if the diameter of the stones exceeds 3 mm.

Patients with diabetes mellitus, as well as patients with high blood glucose levels, need to be careful when using Urolesan in the form of a syrup (the preparation contains sugar syrup). The preparation in the form of capsules contains excipients lactose and corn starch, therefore, patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or with hypersensitivity or gluten intolerance should not use the preparation  in this dosage form. Use with caution in patients with asthma because of the risk of bronchospasm.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding. The use of the preparation during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied.

Children. Children under the age of 14 are prescribed Urolesan in the form of a syrup or liquid. The preparation in the form of a syrup is not used in children under 2 years of age. If necessary, use in children under 7 years of age, Urolesan syrup is recommended.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving and working with other mechanisms. Has not been studied.

Interactions

Have not been studied.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness are possible.

Treatment: an abundant warm drink, rest, intake of activated carbon, the appointment of atropine sulfate (0.0005-0.001 g).

Storage conditions

Capsules - in their original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° С; syrup - in its original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° С, after opening, keep for no more than 28 days at a temperature not exceeding 2–8 ° С; oral drops - in their original packaging at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
