Product description

Dernilan is a medicine in the form of an ointment for use in the case of painful and deep cracks of thickened and calloused epidermis, in the care of the skin of the feet and hands. Dernilan is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age. Due to the combined action of active substances (allantoin, nicotinamide (vitamin PP), salicylic acid and camphor) used in the composition of the ointment, Dernilan has the following effects:

• anti-inflammatory
• supporting healing,
• accelerating granulation,
• facilitating the removal of thickened, calloused epidermis from the feet and hands.

The pack of Dernilan is an aluminum tube containing 35 g of ointment.

Indications

The preparation is used in cases of painful and deep cracks of thickened and calloused epidermis, in the care of the skin of the feet and hands, in adults and children over 12 years of age.

• active substances: racemic camphor 1 g, allantoin 300 mg, nicotinamide 250 mg, salicylic acid 100 mg,
• other ingredients: white petroleum jelly, glycerol, purified water, cetyl alcohol, cholesterol, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate.

Action

The preparation has a healing and anti-inflammatory effect. Accelerates granulation, facilitates the removal of thickened, calloused epidermis from the feet and hands.

Dosage

Apply the ointment on the skin of feet and hands 3 to 4 times a day.

Gently massage the ointment, soak your feet or hands every few days and remove the rough epidermis.

After the lesions have healed, use the ointment 1-2 times a day after washing the feet and hands.

Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Contraindications

Do not use the preparation:

• if you are allergic to the active substances (racemic camphor, allantoin, nicotinamide or salicylic acid) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
• on large areas of damaged skin and on mucous membranes,
• in children under 12 years of age.

Storage

Do not store above 25 ° C.

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Dernilan ointment can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Allergic reactions and local irritation may occur (frequency not known - cannot be estimated from the available data).

Interactions

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the preparations you are taking or have recently taken, and about any preparations you plan to take.
• There are no data available on possible interactions of allantoin, nicotinamide and camphor applied topically to the skin.
• The salicylic acid in the ointment may enhance the therapeutic effects of other NSAIDs.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
• The safety of the preparation  in pregnant and lactating women and its effects on fertility have not been studied. Do not use Dernilan ointment during pregnancy or breastfeeding, unless your doctor tells you to do so.
• Driving vehicles and operating machinery
• Dernilan ointment has no influence on the ability to drive and use machines.

Warnings and Precautions

• Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using Dernilan ointment.
• The preparation contains methyl parahydroxybenzoate and propyl parahydroxybenzoate, therefore it may cause allergic reactions (possible delayed reactions).
• The preparation contains cetyl alcohol and therefore may cause a local skin reaction (e.g. contact dermatitis).
