Product description

Eroxia is a local contraceptive (spermicide) to prevent pregnancy, which, like other methods of contraception, does not completely exclude it. The effectiveness of spermicides depends on adherence to the instructions for use. Eroxia can be used alone or together with other contraceptives to enhance the contraceptive effect.

This method of contraception is intended for all women of reproductive age. It is especially advisable to use Eroxia:

• In the presence of temporary or permanent contraindications to the use of oral contraceptives or an intrauterine device (intrauterine device)
• After childbirth, during lactation, after termination of pregnancy or during premenopause;
• If necessary, occasional protection;
• As an adjunct to oral contraception in case of skipping the pill or taking it later than necessary (in this case, it is necessary to additionally apply Eroxia until the end of the menstrual cycle);
• As an adjuvant in barrier contraception (vaginal diaphragm, cervical cap), when using an intrauterine device (especially with long-term concomitant use of certain preparations, such as NSAIDs).

Composition

Active ingredient: 1 suppository contains benzalkonium chloride 18.9 mg;

Excipients: solid fat.

Contraindications

This medicinal product should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to benzalkonium chloride or excipients, vaginitis, ulcers and irritation of the vaginal mucosa and cervix.

This preparation should not be used in patients:

• with psychological problems or a simple reluctance to any intervention on the genitals, this can lead to inappropriate use of the preparation;
• persons who cannot understand and accept this type of contraception.

Mode of application

Administer intravaginally.

Apply systematically before each intercourse, regardless of the phase of the menstrual cycle.

In the supine position, insert 1 vaginal suppository deep into the vagina 5 minutes before intercourse.

In case of repeated intercourse, enter another suppository.

The duration of contraception is 4 hours.

Immediately before and after intercourse, only an external toilet of the genitals with clean water (excluding soap products) is possible.

Combinations to avoid:

+ Medicines with a vaginal route of administration:

any intravaginal treatment is likely to inactivate the spermicidal action of the local contraceptive;

+ Soap products:

this spermicide is destroyed by soap solutions - any use of soap solutions should be avoided, because they, even in minimal quantities, destroy the active substance.

A compatibility study between vaginal suppositories and latex, conducted with various brands, did not reveal any changes in the physical characteristics of the condoms tested.
