Product description

Hydrocortisonum Oceanic is a cream medicine for topical application to the skin for reactions following an insect bite or sting. It contains hydrocortisone acetate, which has anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties. Hydrocortisonum Oceanic additionally has a decongestant effect on blood vessels and blocks the further development of inflammation symptoms without affecting its cause.

Indications

Skin reactions after an insect bite or sting, acute allergic inflammation (allergic dermatitis), lupus erythematosus, flatulence and multiforme, psoriasis of the scalp.

Composition

1 g of cream contains:

• active ingredient: hydrocortisone acetate 5 mg
• excipients: propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sorbitan stearate, macrogol cetostearyl ether, liquid paraffin, white petroleum jelly, cetostearyl alcohol, propylene glycol, purified water.

Action

Anti-inflammatory, anti-itching and vasoconstrictor.

Dosage

Lubricate a thin layer of Hydrocortisonum Oceanic twice a day on the affected areas of the skin.

Contraindications

Hydrocortisonum Oceanic should not be used:

if you are allergic to hydrocortisone acetate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,

in skin infections caused by viruses (e.g. chickenpox, herpes), fungi (candidiasis and other mycoses) or bacteria (e.g. impetigo),

in inflammation of the skin around the mouth, in the eyes and around the eyes,

on damaged skin and mucous membranes,

in acne vulgaris or rosacea,

in the genital and anus area.

Storage

The preparation should be stored at room temperature out of the reach of children.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

In case of a hypersensitivity reaction, the use of the preparation should be discontinued immediately. Long-term use of the preparation or on large areas of the skin and under occlusive dressings (e.g. under a diaper) may cause systemic side effects due to increased absorption of hydrocortisone acetate into the body, the following may occur:

• skin atrophy,
• stretch marks,
• superficial dilation of blood vessels,
• hypersensitivity reactions.
• systemic side effects of coiticosteroids and suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.

Warnings and Precautions

Do not use the preparation for more than 7 days without a doctor's recommendation.

Long-term use of corticosteroids in children may cause growth and development problems.

Do not use in children under 12 years of age without a doctor's recommendation.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Hydrocortisonum Oceanic should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding without medical advice.
