Product description

Nizoral is an antifungal shampoo medicine for topical application to the skin. The preparation is used in the treatment and prevention of skin diseases caused by Malassezia yeasts, such as scalp dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and tinea versicolor.

Nizoral sachets can be used by adults and adolescents over 12 years of age.

Indications

Treatment and prevention of skin diseases such as: scalp dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis and tinea versicolor.

Composition

1 g of shampoo contains:

active ingredient: ketoconazole 20 mg,

excipients: sodium salt of lauryl sulfonate, disodium salt of monolauryl sulfonosuccinic ether, coconut fatty acid diethanolamide, laurdimonium - hydrolyzed animal collagen, macrogol 120 methylglucosodiolate, fragrance, sodium chloride, imidourea, sodium hydroxide, concentrated sodium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide.

Action

Antifungal.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: treatment of tinea versicolor twice a day for 1 day.

In the case of seborrheic dermatitis and scalp dandruff, use twice a week for 2 to 4 weeks.

Use prophylactically once a week or once every 2 weeks.

Apply a small amount of shampoo to infected skin.

Spread the shampoo evenly over the skin.

In the case of long hair, it is enough to wash the scalp only.

Rub the shampoo into the skin until it lathers.

Leave the foam on the skin for 3-5 minutes and then rinse it off.

You can use regular shampoo on a daily basis.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Storage

Keep out of the sight and reach of children, at a temperature below 25 ° C, in a tightly closed bottle.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Uncommon (more than 1 in 1000 and less than 1 in 100 patients):

erythema, irritation, hypersensitivity, itching, reaction and pustules,
eye irritation and increased tear flow and hypersensitivity,
inflammation of follicle,
acne,
hair loss
contact dermatitis, dry skin, abnormal hair structure,
rash, burning sensation and skin disorder, peeling skin and taste disturbance.

Very rare (less than 1 in 10,000 patients):

hives, angioedema and hair color changes.

Warnings and Precautions

In the case of previous long-term treatment with topical corticosteroids, in order to avoid worsening of the disease symptoms after stopping their use, the doctor will advise you to gradually (within 2 to 3 weeks) withdraw from treatment with corticosteroids. If you stop taking corticosteroids too quickly, your skin may react red and itchy. You should clarify any doubts with your doctor.

Avoid contact of the preparation with the eyes. If this occurs, flush eyes with water.

Seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff are often accompanied by increased hair loss, which can also occur, albeit rarely, with this medication.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you think you are pregnant or are planning to become pregnant.

The preparation can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding when, in the doctor's opinion, it is absolutely necessary.

Use in children

Do not use in children under 12 years of age.
